distance

sqrt ((23-30)^2 + (-18 - (-15))^2
sqrt (49 + 9)
sqrt 58

midpoint is halfway between each of the x and the y points
(23+30)/2, (-18+(-15)/2
26.5, -16.5

x changes 7 and y changes 3

distance = sq root (3^2 + 7^2) using Pythagorus
= sq root (9 + 49) = sq root (58)

midpoint (26.5, -16.5)

formula for distance :
SQRT( (x2-x1)^2 + (y2-y1)^2 )
SQRT( (23-30)^2 + (-18- -15)^2 )
SQRT( (-7)^2 + (-10)^2)
SQRT( 49 + 100 )
SQRT( 149 )
Distance= 12.206555615733702951897855256623 units

Midpoint:
(x+x)/2 = new x
(y+y)/2 = new y
(23+30)/2 = new x
new x = 26.5
(-18 + -15)/2 = new y
new y = -6.5
Midpoint = (26.5, -6.5)
