the lonely road is the road you choose alone, and lonelier still if you choose to walk the path alone. and if by walking you find no happy signs, then that is the lonely road. i hope you're not there. =)

the path where you can't find anyone to go along with you.
you don't have to be alone to fell lonely.
when you choose to walk in a path you know most people won't agree,
or when you were in a position where you stand as the absolute leader, even if you're surrounded by people, no one could understand you...

I would take it to mean the path you've found yourself upon--nothing infront and nothing behind and alone.
