I am seeking a GENUINE work-from-home typing job. I know there are a lot of scams out there, and it is difficult sorting the wheat from the chafe. So does anybody know a GENUINE company I can apply to for typing and data entry work? I am not asking to earn thousands (although it would be nice!), but just a steady income sufficient to enable me to sign off the doles.
I live in the UK and am fully experienced in Microsoft Office.

If you are an accomplished typist - word processor and have recently visited your local city college or university librarian, you can apply as a "certified" graduate typist, earning between $1.50 to $2.00 per page for a master or doctoral thesis. The librarian will provide you with a sample of the typing template (i.e., margin settings, font selection, page set up, etc.) in order to complete these projects. An average weekend income is about $300-$400 for two days work.

Most 'work from home' offers you get via the web are scams designed to part you from your money (via 'application fee', 'processing fee', 'introduction fees', 'work pack fee', etc etc etc... don't forget scammers lie a lot .. Refundable Deposits are NOT refunded and 'Guaranteed' work never appears ..)
Also be aware that the most you can expect is (near) minimum wage .. you are in a market packed with the handicapped / unemployed / stay-at-home mums etc etc ..
.. and there are VERY FEW genuine employers .. and very few of these are going to risk you using a PC connected to the Internet that could be infected with Trojans / Viruses already .. ..
I suggest you focus on finding the Employer (go round Companies in your area ..) .. or you can sign up to the Temp. Staff agencies (eg HAYS, REED etc.)

Why not approach local companies in your area ?
See if they have a need for interim / temporary Data inputters etc.
You could point out the benefits of using yourself as opposed to a temp agency, Generally cost and the fact that once you have learned the company´s systems they can re use your service in the future, with out having to retrain new temps.
It might be worth just spending a day with the yellow pages phoning up companys to speak with the Personnel Dept and finding out.

Alan, to my knowledge, there is no such thing. All are more or less scams (either if you pay 50 pounds to join a so called work-from-home opportunity or if you end up paying other amounts)...
