An old abandoned house out in the country was the scariest place I have ever been to. The place was completely empty except for one bedroom that had men's dress shoes piled up in the corner and a pair of old-fashioned baby boots sitting on the window ledge. Decks of playing cards were scattered on the staircase and a dead rabbit was lying on the back porch. The place had a very strange atmosphere. No one would go down into the basement. It was pitch black and spooky as h**l. The house was eventually torn down, but I still get shivers down my spine when I drive past.

As a child I used to be afraid of the classroom and I still do!
The scariest thing that I have experienced is a horror movie, again when I was little. I don't remember the name though! And I'd better not! Lol

Concentration camp. Buchwald. I visited Germany a couple years ago and we took a tour of a couple camps. Just the feeling of a place like that is creepy. It literally almost felt like people were following you around. At some points you could swear there were still soldiers standing in the watch towers. We went into the basement of this one building and parts of it were red. I can only assume why. Seeing the pictures, etc. Yeah. I suggest people visit them for the experience, but don't expect to be laughing.
Another scary experience was traveling abroad. I went to Ireland and we went to this restaurant/pub. (Kytler's Inn if anyone wants to read up on it.) Well, downstairs there's a fireplace and next to it is a mannequin dressed up like a witch. There's a story about Dame Alice Kytler in the late 1200s. She survived 4 husbands. She was accused of using black witchcraft. (I don't want to start rants about what witchcraft is. I do know, but that's just what she was accused of.) Going through 4 husbands is a lot, especially back then! So anyway. The restaurant is in her old house. I honestly hate mannequins. lol They creep me out. Not the ones in the stores. Ones that are meant to look like people like in museums. Being that I hate them, I didn't really like looking at her. But, I snapped a picture anyway. I felt weird being in that basement. She looked creepy, even though it was just a dressed up mannequin. I get back home and I get my pictures developed. When I saw the picture of the mannequin I dropped it. What I saw in the picture was not what I saw when I took the picture. They were 2 completely different people. That freaked me out (more than being in the concentration camp!)

When I worked graveyard shift in a wood saw mill as a security guard.
I had to run around at night and check on areas in the dark. It was pretty scary because of all the panels flapping in the wind, valves in the boiler rooms would shut off and back on, and screeching noises everywhere.
I also had to drive down to the river and check on the old tug boats to make sure nobody was sneaking into the property.
I just had to keep reminding myself that it's just my imagination, there's no ghosts and nothing to be afraid of. I was still scared though.

For me, the scariest place, because of my fear of heights was at the top of the St. Louis Arch.
Other than Viet Nam, I don't think there has been anything as scary as that time.

I would definitely say my grandparents house. They live in the middle of nowhere in Virginia, and their house is over 100 years old. Some guy hung himself on their porch, and when I was little my grandpa told me that there was a ghost in the house. It's just so old and creepy, and there's a graveyard in sight on the house that has pretty much every dead member of my family in it. I hate going there, it just is a really creepy, old place.
