Are your waters more likely to break at night or during the day? Also is it bad if your waters break and your baby hasnt dropped yet? Im nearly 39 weeks pregnant, its my first and the baby isnt engaged yet. I thought the head should be engaged by now especially for a first. Is this normal. Thanks for your help

Not all babies drop before delivery, so don't stress there.

As for water breaking, there isn't any time that's more likely than another -- but you're more likely to notice it immediately when you're lying down.

This is because when you're standing, the weight of the baby will sometimes plug the opening and keep the waters in even when the membranes are broken. When you're horizontal, that doesn't happen.

hi they say ur water is more likely to break during the night..if ur water breaks u need to go to the hospital right away because u can get an infection which is not good for your baby. your baby will turn and be engaged when it is ready. if not the doctors are be able to turn the baby head down. hope this helps

I'm not sure about the water breaking bit... my guess is it will break when it breaks.... day or night. But I do know that with the first pregnancy, the baby engages very shortly before labour whereas in subsequent pregnancies the baby can engage weeks before hand.
Good luck

my waters broke at night if you want your waters to break then i would suggest you go for a walk and then go in a hot shower and go to bed this is what i did and the next early morning my waters broke but with the baby not being engaged I'm not sure how to turn the baby but the doctors will tell you how to try and get the baby to move if they don't then i would suggest you ask them and see what they say good luck with everything

Depends when it breaks. Mother's have night or day. Just normal but um if it breaks sooner before 9 months that is not normal.. U might have to talk to your doctor about that or either that get a pregnancy book and read it from there if u don't feel comfortable talking to ur doctors.
