Hi,
From the moment I realise I'm lost I might start backing up and retracing my steps until something recognisable comes into view. Or I might change directions hoping that in a roundabout way I'll find my way without having to subtract anything.

You don't understand the body and brain. Your way seems to make sense, but it's not how things work and it will back-fire on you. Even more so because your age, you can mess up your hormonal growth and development by not eating well enough. You want your diet to be Sensible and something you can stick with for the long-term of life. Keep working on getting the soda out of your diet, it's nasty stuff and will give you all sorts of problems. And exercise, keep it enjoyable, start easy and let your body and brain have the time they need to make all the changes to keep you going strong. Think long-term, short-term plans and goals will only leave you disappointed and worse off than when you started. Your brain has already detected your decrease in calories, and assumes the food supply must be very low or running out, and so it's taking measures to slow your metabolism down, use less calories, to keep you and not so coincidently itself alive! Plus your muscles are starving, they'll be burnt off, and that will slow your metabolism down even more. Your brain is also releasing Cortisol, because it's stressing, and that will cause you problems as well. There's much more to it, but I hope you are getting the picture, your body is more than a walking, talking calorie bank, so don't treat it like one. A Sensible Diet which is three healthy meals a day, two healthy snacks, and Enjoyable Exercise ( most people don't keep it enjoyable, or don't even start at an enjoyable level, and this is the number one reason they fail), the brain isn't going to allow a habit that's too painful. And give it time, don't think in weeks, or even months, think in years, you are young, there's plenty of time. Start off doing this right and you'll be set.

If you're speaking about your spiritual or mental path, sometimes it's best to take a deep breath, relax and figure out where your internal compass is directing you. Sometimes your future or potential will not reveal itself for a long way. You feel like a little boat tossing on the waves without any control. It's scary to venture into totally unknown territory, but often that is exactly what is required of you. Grab your internal rudder and compass tightly and steady yourself so you don't get tossed out of the boat. You can ride out the storm. Bright and vibrant horizons await you.

I lost my way while driving in Atlanta once . I managed to navigate out by following the Sun. No lie...it worked. Luckily it was daytime (late afternoon-Sun declining West). I'm not as good at navigating by stars, and I probably wouldn't have seen many in the bright light cloud of Atlanta.

I never really lost my way, the way was always there, I was just on the wrong path.
So I took a different fork in the road and started from there.
That's what life is all about, taking different forks in the road until you find the right one.

Any address can lead to my way; (the address lost me), so a new hope (way) will come to me by itself and without address - I start subtracting the ways. WHERE? - From my own 'intuition'.

Continue until you recognize another familiar way. Retracing steps may be helpful or not. You could end up going in circles but that is why life is called a cycle.

Take a deep breath and count backwards from ten to one and let your conscience be your guide.
