No. It wont affect your height.

If you want to improve your height as well as your muscles, basketball is one of the best sports you can play. It will improve your height because it involves jumping that causes your bone plates to grow that would certainly increase your height. While your muscles will increase its mass because of aggressive moves brought about by the sports itself.

You are at the age when all your friends are going to tell you stuff that isn't true. They could be jealous of your dedication to good health or just trying to get a rise out of you. You need to find unbiased sources for conformation on what they say. Answers is good if you get enough responses since some people here like to make fun of others also.

When you google try other ways to say the same thing. In this case it could be; medical, exercise, weight training or height. The commercial sites dominate the first listings but helpfull sites are there if you keep looking.

3kg dumbbells are not enough to do this.
What they are referring to is that when you are your age, if a person lifts heavy weights consistently-like in football training or power lifting training, it can damage the growth plate area of your bones and thus prevent you from growing as tall as you would have otherwise.
At your age, lighter weights-no more than 65% of your maximum for a given lift, and more reps is a good way to go. Best of luck. Keep it up!
