I told her that its normal for a guy to do this even though being married. But she thinks Im weird or gay or something. I thing masturbating normal as long as its not taking the place of sex with a partner. I do it often but dont think its odd.

You are right. Just make sure you "show" her as well as tell her that it is not replacing sex with her.

Personally, telling her to "lighten up" and telling her that others [including women] "do it", isn't going to resolve your dilema.

I didn't "catch" my husband, but, instead, found the recent results on a towel in the bathroom. I'm sorry, even knowing that "others do it" doesn't stop the feeling that somehow, because he didn't come to me, made me feel inadequate.

Just tell her... "look babe, I'm sorry. Nothing, or no one in the world could take the place of you. I love you..."

I'd also consider your sex life with your wife, too. Maybe [just like I felt], you're not having sex with her often enough, and the fact that she catches you "waxing the Buick" might have caused some resentment.

Believe it or not, most women do it on occasion too. Maybe not as often, I'm not sure about that, but most women I know do it too, married or not.
I don't know what to say to her other than you are a normal heterosexual man. If you were gay, you wouldn't be with her and if you were weird, you wouldn't hear about this kind of stuff all the time. She is just insecure. She seems to think it is some reflection on her.

You need to tell her that it is a very normal thing that all people do not just men. Even in a committed relationship. It is a great way to relieve stress and a couples needs dont match for sex drive all the time.

If you are being truthful, there is really not more you can do to change her thinking. As a wife myself, I found it hurtful the first time I discovered my husband in the shower. I never mentioned it, but took it personal that he would rather play with himself rather than me.

After posting on another website for input from the men, I was able to realize that it has nothing to do with me.

Also, as a urology nurse once told me, "He has been playing with it long before you ever came along."

However, I still don't understand why guys would rather jolly themselves than play with their wives and/or girlfriends.

My opinion is if you are comfortable with the practice it is harmless. You are probably young and have a high sex drive, and masterbation is simply an outlet without harming anyone else. Perhaps your wife could benefit from some kind of sex education literature or classes.

We'll you have to understand it is completely normal to MOST of us!!! It use to be a more common thing for me than it is now. Me and my husband have alot of sex and to be honest i dont need anything else. He has to understand that if you need it than u do, but in the same sense you need to understand that alot of woman feel it is their duty to fufill their spouse and not doing that is a big problem, maybe you should talk to her about it, let her maybe get on here and read the different answers. It is normal, but as for me i rather my husband teach me and let me masterbate him!! If she feels like you being alone and doing it alone is a problem then incorporate her in it! have her do it for u, or maybe both of you can do it together, watch eachother, its a huge turnon. Good Luck!!!

A lot of women think that if their partner masturbates it's a slur against them. It's not. It's just something guys do. Why not suggest you do it together? Watch porn together. Explain to her that you still love her and your masturbating has nothing to do with her. For you it's just a quick release.

If your wife thinks you are weird or odd, that is a problem. You need relationship counseling.
When I was married, my wife was cool with porn and masturbation....during the good times. But when things turned sour she verbally abused me with it...."go jerk off," that kind of thing.
It is not good.

Ask her join in and watch and/or participate in it. She would understand it then. Don't let her try to fool you, women masturbate just as often or more than men, they just never let you know about it. Then, be sure she gets what she needs !!!
