I am back watching the grandbabies today after 4 days off. No time for computers when there's a 2 yr old and a 2 month old, so I'll be back here tonight.
I have a couple of new Jack-o-lantern gourds carved and painted for my grandsone;we are gonna decorate the front porch at his house for halloween.Hey - any suggestions for unusual fall decorations? It's a big victorian with a wraparound front porch.

I always smile when I see a straw man sitting out on those big wraparound porches! It's especially nice if they're relaxing in poses that normal folk would be taking....

Have you thought of "recreating" your grandson's family, but all in straw people? A Daddy, and a Mommy, and a 2 year old boy (for him!) and a two month old baby...and of course, you can't forget the wonderful Grandma!! All gathered and posed together, as if they are welcoming people to their house.

Have fun when you can. They grow up so fast as I'm sure you know . I enjoy this time around because I find there is less stress on worrying about whether I'm doing things right or wrong.
I always wanted a house with a porch like that but can't think of a thing myself re: decorating. I found this link, and they have a huge spider web on the porch ,real creepy .

Have fun with the little ones, enjoy you time together. Your house sounds wonderful. Maybe you can get some hay stacks to put around the other decorations suggested-loved the straw family idea. The dollar stores have lots of decorations for added touches. Gotta get off here myself to go to the Red Cross blood drive.

Ragged strips of black cloth attached here & there, make a nice effect, especially when there is a gentle breeze blowing.
Dead tree branches do too, especially if the bark is mostly off & several crooked off shoot branches.
Flickering candle lights in the windows: The wicks have to be long & a draft, of sorts, present too. Not near drapes though.
Have a safe spooky all hollows eve.

How fun!! How lucky your grandkids have a good grandma!!
I'm a pretty good one too. I'm getting ready to take my 7 yr. old to school. Finally at the age she can bathe and dress herself and the great big sun is peeping in my kitchen window. Have a good day!!
