You have a group of people bought together by circumstances and yet somehow they manage to form a pack, usually with someone on the outside. Here is my theory what is your own.

(Theories are fun)

Heres what i thought you have the
leader- obviously which is never usually the brightest person but the person who is the most confident. Who people follow without realising.
second in command
A smart person- who people should listen to, but don't because they find them to smart.

I know that this is a generalisation but isn't that what psychology is about.

I think quite often, the Leader is the most knowledegeable, the most Macivillian, most manipulative, and in some way or another - manages to keep the others in their place. The Leader always has a side-kick, even if they may be superior in other ways, the ones who get left out or stay at lowest pecking order, are the ones who fail to impress, one way or another, they often lack confidence, experience and as much knowledge, or they are too afraid to 'stick their necks out?

The most intuitive is the leader as they are actually street smart and perhaps more balanced. Emotional Intelligence, EQ, is more an indicator of effectiveness than IQ. IQ correlates not at all. Life is partly an experience, and not thoughts about it, so either you 'get it' or you don't. If they say, "She's got it" the 'it' is Emotional Intelligence, as emotions are what drive people and rational becomes rationalization for what we want, emotionally. That makes other countries, especially Eastern ones more 'spiritual' and with more people skills. The major result of studying Emotional Intelligence is gaining people skills, obviously important in any group, plus the intuitive skill helps you deal immediately with the actual situations you're in rather than past experiences coloring your perseptions and reacting instead of proacting. The intellectual is out of it in more ways than one. E. I. connects you up with the tiger, the whole brain, while science is saying the conscious mind is like a monkey on it's back. We all know the monkey would be more a nuisance than a help. That's a radical difference, but backed by every measurement possible. In short is you check it out, you will be convinced, thoroughly, that it's true. The confidence gained from being in a group allows for the excess ego that makes groups more irrational when they are of one mindset, rigid. The wider community tends to be more diverse and therefore more balanced. These rules are important, as applying them to the worldwide community would avoid a lot of problems now being experienced in the world. Even sociology, when it focuses on itself, to the exlusion of other disciplines like psychology and neuroscience, becomes myopic and gets theories instead of truth. It's not being intuitive. lol Not to worry, there are alway new theories and new truths from them and new truths spawn new theories and questions. Sorry about the length, but I did cut out the history of the world and stuff.

Interesting theory ~ but this ground has been covered before (well and truly).

Personally, I have no got a theory ~ I've done considerable 'group work' and have the sense of something more akin to a 'dance' as people take up a place in the group.

However, it does depend upon 'what form of group you are referring to.'
