I think it's pretty bad! At Uni we had lecturers who actually taught us! If we had a handful of the other sort ... Not good!

The word teacher is sort of a misnomer, you can't actually teach anyone anything, and a good teacher knows this. Teachers create an environment where learning is possible, and the best learning is from the students own discovery. This isn't my theory, it's not your teacher's theory, the idea that students teach them selves is one of the strongest educational philosophies that we have, and more teachers would teach like this if they knew how.

I've met master teachers that teach in a lot of crazy ways, one use to teach other teachers how to teach by only using questions, never giving answers. I've met teachers that taught without ever opening their mouths. The biggest problem, in fact, that most teachers have is that they think they do have to tell you stuff- most the time they're just spinning their wheels.

Believe me, by the time you finish all your assignments and research you will understand a lot more in a way that you can understand than any teacher could have ever told you.

Its called FOFO teaching **** off and find out. He's there to facilitate, be asked questions of and guide you. The assignments on these courses are supposed to reflect real business situations. At the end of the day when you take what you have learned into the workplace, you're not going to have a college tutor holding your hand then. As long as you're achieving good marks for the assignments then you need not be worrying.

Learning like this is also supposed to give you better time management skills.

If you're struggling to understand, or not achieving your desired results in the assignments, make sure that you are pestering/ drumming information out of this tutor until you do understand and are achieving the required results from your course.

Good luck with the rest of your studies.

It is good in a way that you are teaching yourself and will remember most of the things you read. however if you haven't understood the stuff you are researching you need to ask the teacher to explain. The later is a disadvantage of the method the teacher is using. Are you learning anything or are you doing it just for the sake of submitting the assignment.

even tho he isnt writting on the blackboard or actually handing you sheets and sheets of paper and stuff, he is actually teaching you something. its called using your brain!

you are learning how to be self sufficient, where to find the info you need and how to present it. These are all good traits in the business world.

alot of higher education teachers dont actually teach much, but make you work it out for yourselves and are there for support if you get stuck. you may call it lazy, but they are actually doing a good job of it. all the assignments have means to teach you something, if the assignment was wrong, then it would be brought up when the teacher marked it.

in the meantime, dont worry about it. im sure that you will learn what you need to one way or another.

Learning is not a passive process where a teacher feeds you information while you listen. Consider yourself lucky that your teacher actually makes you learn by yourself (though I'm sure it is with consultation & supervision) - he is showing you how to learn. There are two sayings which are very true - "A teacher's responsibility is to show what is possible and a student's responsibility is to make it possible or to happen" ....the other one "Give a hungry man a fish and he will be full for one day but teach him HOW to fish and he will never be hungry again"

Bad, you or your parents are paying taxes for your education and he's not doing anything, what if you end up not passing - then you'll be kicking yourself for not saying anything. Is there a year head or some kind of senior teacher you could tell this too? If you don't want ppl to know its you complaining write an anonymus letter and send it to a senior teacher, even maybe say in the letter than you know that other members of the class feel the same (lol even if you don't know that for sure!)

i would complain to the uni / college (wherever you are) because these people are being paid to teach you. Plus by simply doing assignments you are only learning the information relevant to that one assignment. You should be being taught a much wider variety of information than would be in a report because its supposed to be useful beyond the course.

Basically all you are doing is enough to get a pass, in the long run that is pointless

I did GNVQ Advanced business...and my teacher too was like this...they used to just mark the work and we were left to our own devices...it teaches you how to find the answers for yourself, and a bit of self discipline too, if no one is telling you what to do, will you do it....its just a case of get up and do it, your teacher is marking your work, if he sees that something is bad, then I'm sure he would comment, don't forget, you'r no longer in the arms of high school...its up to you now...good luck!!

can't comment about the modern education system, except having a real life and earning a wage is better for more people than the government allows.

In general modern education is a fraud - it originally selected the few people who were high fliers in the past about 6% for key jobs. These days its child minding for adult - who will find at the end of their course most won't have a job.

PS
Most jobs can be learnt in a few days or weeks.

They have been trying to teach that life on earth is so transient and its pleasures so fleeting. In fact, there is suffering everywhere . All they were trying to say is that there exists better ways of living in the transcendental state and it is possible to live forever (in other dimensions) . Imagine you become so huge that all stars & galaxies are smaller than you , when you become the universe . But what is the way : Jesus called it , I AM Buddha called it the self awareness meaning the door to the path to eternal life is with in self
