The Yankees collapse after being up 3-0 is by far the worst. They had 4 games, 2 on the road and 2 at home, needing just to win one game. Whats makes it even worse is that they had the lead in game 4 of the series and they blew it.

THE 2007 METS FOR SURE.... Reasons:

The 2004 BoSox were a superb team and they were ***strongly favored*** by the sports experts to win the ALCS even before the 1st pitch of Game 1 2004 ALCS was thrown. Most experts said the Yankees would be lucky to take 2 games from the Red Sox

Now on the other hand, the 2007 Phillies did NOT have the same backing from the sports experts! ... The Phillies winning the NL East on the final day of the season is pretty darn miraculous so there's your answer

The Yankees collapse. The Yankees had convinced themselves that they were fated always to beat the Red Sox when it mattered, and then it didn't happen, under the most extreme of circumstances.

Neither really. The Phillies of 1964 had a 6.5 game lead over the STL Cardinals with 12 games to play and lost their postseason spot to the Cardinals, who beat the Yankees for the World Series title.

The Yankees collapse might be next on the list, though.

The Pin-Strippers blowing a 3-0 in the ALCS has got to be the biggest collapse. The stakes were much higher,WS appearance.the Mets was just a play-off spot. Now if your talking about reg. season this has to rank up there with the 64 Phillies

I turely believe the cubs of 1969 when they had a huge lead on the mets in august and then went like 10-45 and lost to the mets. The turning point of that season is when ron santo was standing on the on deck circle and a black cat ran in front of him at shea stadium.

In my humble opinion, the Yanks collapse was worse. The Mets havent played that well recently, so it wasnt that much of a surprise for them to lose the lead. Unfortunately the Yankees had been playing great ball and just completely self destructed. In addition to them falling apart, they did it to the benfit of their biggest enemies.

And by the way, thanks for bringing up that painful memory in the first place.

It has to be the Yankees because they were just about ready to book their ticket to the World Series.
