Actually, both concepts of him being either an alien or just human would define our thoughts. We (or some of us) have always been fascinated of extra-terrestrial life, what's out there, amazing life-forms far more astounding or interesting than ours...thus we would like to believe he's an alien. But somehow, we have also been burdened by life's complexities that anything other than the ordinary would be unappealing. So, we'd like to do away with the complexities and all that....and so, he's just human with an exceptional sense of imagination.

The circumstances in the movie suggest (but only suggest) that he has an understanding of the universe similar to that of a being from an advanced world, far greater than ours..... but such circumstances are not sufficient to support the fact that he's an alien being. I think the main objective of the whole movie is for you to make your own conclusion.... and know something about yourself.

I'd like the idea of him being an alien. Why? I just find myself staring at the night skies often...and think there's some intelligent activity going on up there. The universe has its own mysteries not for us to unravel, but to marvel

Been so long since I've seen the movie that I don't remember for sure, but I'm pretty sure I would lean toward alien. As I recall the movie never actually answers the question does hint in one direction or the other.

Crazy. For sure. The movie was supposed to be realistic, so that's really the only logical explination. He made up K-PAX to deal with the tradegy of losing his family. As for the woman who disappeared, she probably just walked out as everyone was watching him.

The book implied that it was both.. basically that because he was already crazy it was easier for a "hitchhiker" could take over for him.. I haven't read the sequel yet..(and due to the fairly low sales of KPAX I highly doubt they will ever make the sequel into a movie), so they may get more specific in that..

Given the amount of BS the "alien" spouted, I'd just call him annoying.
