Hi everyone. I'm looking for some sort of tile adhesive to create a coating in a cylindrical tank (it's for an experiment). The thing is, this sort of adhesive must be removable as I don't want to ruin the tank. I was told by a friend that there is some sort of tile adhesive you can take off (dissolve) with hot water. Do you know the brand or name of this product? Do you know any similar product? Clay won't work because, if it dries, it gets way too hard to be taken off. If it doesn't dry, it washes off very easily with simple water. Any ideas? Suggestions? Cheers!

Well, the adhesive or whatever material it is will be used to simulate build-up in a tank. So it will be an internal wall coating. No tiles or anything else will be used, just the adhesive. When finished the experiment, this coating must be taken off to leave the tank in its original condition. Any ideas of what sort of material I could use for the coating?

With all due respect to your friend; and after having installed multiple thousands of sq. ft. of tile in my life; I have to suggest that any adhesive(especially for tile) that washes off easily with "SIMPLE" ??? Water; certainly won't offer much validity.
Certainly there are adhesives that can be cleaned up...to a degree when still not set...with water (cove based adhesive being one).
You don't state that your intent is to apply tile to; or inside the cylinder; but if so it would have to be a large enough radius or small enough tile; to make it work. If all you're looking for is the adhesive, an online direct search should yield dozens of sites.

What about using liquid latex, that would line the tank and can be painted on in layers and be peeled off when your finished...

Or maybe a silicone sealant that can be spread and dissolved with thinners...

Hope this helps!
