I've not seen a detailed review of the Opteron 1212. I think its performance would be comparable to the E4400. E4400 would just be more efficient and cooler running at 65 watts TDP.

Both are equally good that you wont feel the difference between the two.. Intel might have a slight edge on the performance... but AMD is cheaper.

In gaming, the graphics card makes the difference. So chose the one whose mother board has the best graphics card support.

Don't get confused. Definitely go for AMD. Because

1. AMD is number one in the world compared to Intel which sits at number 3.

2. AMD makes its devices by itself while Intel outsources them from FOX international,a China based Company. So AMD gives you quality assurance.

3. When it comes to gaming and general graphic and viewing quality, AMD is 100 times better than Intel.

4. Most Important is AMD has better After sales service compared to Intel in case you face troubles.

AMD is usually the best choice for gaming. It should be cheaper, and in my opinion works better.

Plus, with most Intel processors I've owned, overclocking isn't something that I really risk. AMD is my personal favorite for overclocking.
