I want to ask why Kate washed Maddie's toy? Did not she want to have her daughter's smell on it? What a weird decision to do it or suspicious may be.
However, I hope they did not do it to her and Maddie is still alive.

Another thing: why did not they call an ambulance? May be because if she was killed because of the overdose it would be the end to Kate's career (if she was killed by Kate as suggested). But then Kate is so religious, even if an accident happened why would she hide the body? This would be so hypocritical to the religion. This means that the parents would live without visiting the place where their daughter was buried freely for the rest of the days. Would they really go for it? And then, Kate is so religious. This does not make any sense although we all know that even most religious people commit crimes.

Well, the police in Portugal and the media has made such a mess of this story. The media is a bully, a horrible bully. Because the police and the media coming up with different storied almost every day it is impossible for us to sort this puzzle out. Just to many theories, no logic sometimes.
Whatever, lets hope the girl is still alive and the police will find the true answer soon.

I long wondered myself if Madeleine had perhaps gone sleepwalking and fell down the steps aside their balcony. But have never heard anything about the police searching, or finding bloodstains and such at the bottom of the stairs.

She also could have been physically restrained by her parents to keep her in bed, and strangled in an attempt to get free. Or she could have awakened, started jumping on the bed (my favorite thing to do as a child), lost her balance, fell, hit her head and died. Hence the bloodstains on the wall.

And, after finding her dead, her parents certainly had the knowledge to know nothing could be gained by calling for an ambulance, and all that would happen is that traces of sleeping meds would have been found in her body, the twins would have tested positive for them also, and their lives would have crumbled - all without the possibility of bringing back Madeleine. So, they lied, opened the window and shutter, made up stories about Cuddle Cat being found on a high shelf etc.

Just can't get my head around the parents being responsible for her murder though. How could they have realistically managed to play hide and seek with her body for so long, under such conditions, surrounded by media, and still hidden it so well no one else can find her?

Just sooo many theories and so little solid evidence. Many things could have happened but I think the reason this subject remains such an issue on here is because we just can't stand not knowing what happened. At least I can't.

Hate to even think of a four year old child at the hands of paedophiles but I believe that is the only likely avenue if the parents didn't have anything to do with it. Hope she is found soon, one way or the other. The uncertainty is so difficult - and making the media vultures just to get a story.

Well, these are my theories anyway.....

Well did anyone hear the latest theory last night on several news channels...that the police now believe that Maddie got up to look for her parents, wandered out of the apartment and fell down the steps, fatally banging her head.....having been sedated..(not my words...but the reporters words..so don't jump on me and give me the thumbs down) !
BUT most interesting was the bit where it mentioned that it was the British Police who first advised the PJ's of their suspicions..Well Well Well ??
So many theories !
So many contradictions !
However one thing is for certain....children DO NOT just vanish of the face of the earth...with no trace !
I have my own views of course...and i don't buy the pedophile ring or the child trafficking theory...I'm sorry but that still wouldn't explain so many other mysteries regarding this case !
I still think we are all in for a major breaking headline...with a twist that not even Agatha Christie could have thought of !

My money is on... they sedated her so they could go out and she died from it, accident. Parents realise they'll probably loose custody of the twins, go to jail for neglect and loose their licenses to practise medicine if it's found out. Being very sharp individuals who've seen the dead before as a part of their job they stash the body somewhere close (there wouldn't have been time for any kind of proper disposal) somewhere cold, like an emptied out fridge, or buried deep in sand to absorb the fluids and partially mummify the corpse.

There's a god awful press fuss that they decide to milk for all it's worth, and a few weeks later they 'take a trip' to somewhere remote with the body in the boot, during which time it sheds some hair and leaks a bit, leaving DNA for the PJ to find. In a parental gesture, cuddle cat is placed on the body (it was an accident, it was their child) for a while. She's buried somewhere quiet but with and identifiable grave marker like a tree, so they can find their way back later. It wouldn't say it was impossible for her to be buried in a graveyard. They are Catholic, and consecrated ground would be important to them.

I don't believe the Portuguese cops AND British forensics are stitching them up. The odds are too long. It's statistically more likely to be the parents

I think the he PJ's version is probably correct - Maddie was accidentally killed by her mother.
But if there was an accident , her parents could have called an ambulance. We all know accidents happen and everyone would have a different opinion about the whole story.
Now would any of you call the Sky News first, instead of the police if your kid disappeared? I don't think so, but that's what they did. The parents attitude through the whole process hasn't been normal.

lady macbeth i agree with you, over 100000 kids go missing each year in the UK, but this one has dominated headlines and continues to do so. don't get me wrong, I'm heart sorry that she's missing. but she's not the only one and that makes me sad and angry. its true the fact that because her parents are white and middle class and their missing child is a pretty little blonde girl that the media have given it so much attention - and we all know that if it was a child from a council estate in the gorbals there would not be this much attention.
However, that's just me getting on my soap box - in answer to your question, i hope wholeheartedly that they had nothing to do with her disappearance but there are so many things that just don't add up about them and their story. so, I'm inclined to believe the theory that they sedated her and in realisation of what they had done hid the body.

mittens - we're not judge and jury and nothing we say on here makes any kind of difference but the question is what theories people have - not what they KNOW happened - step down!

The parents took a huge risk and made a bad judgement to leave their children unattended,as did the rest of the group. While they were out, someone took Madeleine. From there onwards,I really dont know.I just hope someone who desperately wanted a child has her and are taking good care of her.Maybe she has had her hair cut and glasses put on to hide her eye defect and is passed off as a boy.

I will always hold on to the hope she is alive and will be found.
God bless you Madeleine!!xxx

How can anyone give that answer without the actual facts, Can anyone on here say that they were there? Who was a fly on the wall when little Madeline went missing?

All you will get are theories and not facts as not one person who visits Yahoo! Answers or any other forum was there to be a witness to this sorry story.
