I am an Australian looking to do law in USA please help me understand your system

You only need to take the LSAT which is a standardized test required for application to most US law schools.

In order to qualify for a US law school, you must have the equivalent of a 4 year US accredited college education. There are evaluation services which are associated with American colleges and universities that will examine your credentials and either accredit or cite deficiencies. You need rhis certificate to apply to a law school. You do not need to take the SAT.
Assuming all is well in the undergrad area, I would suggest taking the Kaplan LSAT Prep course. Its a bit expensive, but very thorough and gives you advantage on what the test is about, strategies and practice trials. Go on the internet and key in kaplan lsat
