In the beginning it seems she did love Elvis. When they met, she was really still a kid, and he was quite popular, but still not the star that he became in later years.
As she matured, and their relationship changed, he was drawn more into the public and further from her.. .and his family. No doubt he loved them, but the stress was too much. Even after they divorced, there was still love between them, but not the kind that would mend a marriage.
I tend to think it was the guys that she married after Elvis that was after the money... not vice-versa.
Nothing like riding on the coat-tails of the empire of Graceland.

She definately loved Elvis, but it was a combination of things that she just couldn't handle anymore. She couldn't handle the rock n' roll lifestyle. I'm sure she knew that there were other woman, but that's part of that lifestyle and I think she understood that. His drug abuse got the better of him and as much as she tried to help him, he couldn't be helped. What many people don't know is that Elvis has problems with intimacy with someone who has had a child. That was part of it too. Even after the divorce, they remained close, but marriage was not possible. If you listen to her in interviews, she truely loves Elvis. She is not riding on anyone's coat tails. It is because of Priscilla that Graceland is what it is today. Elvis was close to being broke, when he died. Graceland almost had to be sold, but Priscilla stepped in and made it what it is today, for the fans and for Elvis. She is very careful with how things are run and makes sure not to do anything that Elvis wouldn't have wanted. That's why you never have and never will see the upstairs. Elvis was a very private person and never showed anyone the upstairs. Out of her love, she is respecting his wishes. What she does has everything to do with her love for Elvis and nothing to do with the financial benefits.

I agree w/ the first answer. Priscilla was very young when she married Elvis & she was in love with him.
Lisa Presley seems to have a good relationship w/ her mom & I don't think she would if she ever suspected her mom of being a gold digger.
As for Priscilla marrying rich guys subsequently, as a woman of means it is in her best interest to marry men who also have money to loose in case of a messy divorce.

Well she was going out with Elvis since she was 14. Then later having a child together, that's a pretty strong bond. There are different reasons why people divorce but it doesn't mean they don't hold a special place in their heart. I think that she did love Elvis but maybe they weren't right for each other.
That is just my opinion but who can really say what happened between them.

Priscilla gets no "financial benefits". Lisa Marie is sole heir of the estate.
She was 14 when they met-puppy love & wanting to get away from her parents and be "grown up". Elvis treated her like **** much of the time, then had a change of heart when she had enough and left him for a karate instructor.

I agree with most of what the others have stated. She did love him. But she grew up. His lifestyle was not really good for a young newly married girl. The Memphis Mafia was always with him and he wanted it that way. You can see how it would start to bother a wife, who wanted to spend time alone with her husband. Elvis wanted Priscilla to stay the naive girl. She started thinking for herself and did what any wowan would do even though she loved him. She left. I think they still cared for each other. I don't think she ever remarried. She lived with the father of her son. But I don't remember hearing they married.

Yes she loved him, but she just couldn't live the lifestyle that he had. She was young and idealistic and thought that there would just be them, a happy family together. She didn't bank on how much he needed his friends around him all the time. They were never alone together to be afamily - it must have been like living in a comune! Also the touring took its toll, she wasn't allowed to work and she got bored and very very lonely. When they divorced, they came out of court together HOLDING HANDS! Yes they loved each other, they just couldn't make it work. As for marrying other people - well life goes on, ......
