It does depend, all Intel dual core chips for desktops, whether they are Pentium Dual Core, Pentium D, or Core 2 Duo are 64 bit. For laptops, only the Core 2 Duo is 64 bit, the Core Duo and Pentium Dual Cores are not.

Newer processor normally 64 bit, but for the intel dual core i'm not sure, get AMD Athlon 64 X2 which is 64 bit and have a better performance in the same price.

Not every processor contains 64bits. To get 64Bits processor, you would have to buy it from a special place that sell AMD or Intel.

FYI!

64Bits is for Workstation and server only not to be used as a regular activity.
