My daughter was bullied. teased and torment for four years. To the point she came home crying almost every day. The school said my daughter was making it up. One of the girls took a year book and blacked out my daughters face and wrote on top I hate Trish. Now is that mean or what? I went around and around with the school. They seemed to think it was not a big deal. I said you know why there are all these school shootings? Because the school does nothing to stop the bullying and teasing. The school was sick of me in their face. The school social worker told me get the police involved if it did not stop. Finally I contacted an outside agency to work with my daughter. Anytime she was bullied or teased, she was to get up and leave the room and go straight to the office and someone from this agency would come in and take care of the problem. The school was not a bit happy with this arrangement. But it cut down on the teasing, because finally these kids were being held accountable for their actions.

Yes I do...in too many cases children and teenagers are allowed to get away with the most horrendous bullying..physical and emotional...if it were a parent or other adult doing the dreadful things well then that would be another matter and people would be horrified.
There is a ridiculous culture of "Not telling" among schoolchildren and this is perpatrated by adults...."Dont tell tales" etc....this is a rule which benefits noone but the bullies.
If parents were made to take responsibility for their childrens actions then bullying would not be as prevalent.
Here in the U.K. home schooling has leaped in numbers ober the last ten years...it has more than doubled and this is due to the prevailing yob culture which has infiltrated our schools....so kids who should be kept out of the system for disturbing behaviour are being allowed to stay in whilst their victims are being educated at home....which in the end is a better education anyway in my opinion...but this is not the point.

Most definitely....all schools should have an anti bullying system in place and a Teacher that deals with this....have you brought it to the schools attention???? DONT stay quiet about this, bullies are weak people that have normally been bullied themselves at some point. They do it to try n be big n clever in front of their mates. I think if the school haven't sorted it then yes get the police involved....YOU MUST TELL UR PARENTS, WE ARE NOT OGRES LOL we want to protect n care n support n love our children, sit down with them n tell them everything n go from there, PLEASE DONT KEEP QUIET GET IT SORTED Good luck HOPE THIS HAS HELPED AND STAY STRONG. schools have community police attached to them so the police can be involved in an informal manner at first, only making it official if the bullys dont stop.

Yes.

I cannot believe a school would allow severe bullying to take place these days - do they want another Virginia Tech on their hands?

Do whatever is needed to make sure the environment is safe for all.

Yes - and check the age that a student needs to be before going to the police. It varies. Around 10 and they can feel the brunt of the law.
