In my opinion, South Africa was always the "king" country of africa with the richest economy and the most advanced technology in the whole of Africa. Although there are signs of it being on the decline, it is still the most advanced country in the entire continent.

Belief has nothing to do with it.
South Africa does have the largest and best developed economy in Africa. It is an objective fact.
Would you ask someone if they "believed" that water is wet?

That's what the figures suggest. The SA economy forms about a third of that of the entire continent.

yes but not for long anymore.if the govenment of south africa carries on on this path,the economy can become the same as zimbabwe in the next 20 years.that is why you people must keep on putting pressure on your government,either by demonstrating .or writing to the press or the government.

Yes.It is the "legacy of apartheid/colonialism" but Mbeki will never admit it.In any event the way the ANC are looting the Country it should be the next Zimbabawe in 10-15 years.

it is of course but watch out namibia and botswana cos of their population, Namibia has the potential of overtaking many african countries if they hold on their pace.
with just 17 years of independence but can,t touch them. I personnaly respect south africa cos they are the boss of africa no matter what.

I wouldn't hold my breath about it sustaining any such ranking. It is gradually going to slip back toward the continental norm.
