When the vector is at an angle of 45* or 225* which is just another way of saying 45* lol...depending on your refrence. Just because they are not 180* apart does NOT mean they are equal. Good luck

You specified xy plane, but did not specify x- and y- components. Any two vectors of equal magnitude will sum to a non-zero resultant if the angle between them is not 180°. If the angle between them is exactly 180°, they are equal and opposite, and resolve to zero.

If the x component and y component have the same magnitude it is either at 45 degrees or 225 degrees.

At any time that the two components are NOT exactly 180 degrees out of phase. e.g. 2 sides of an equilateral triangle.
