A massage stimultes. anything that gets the sences will cause blood pressure to raise. I found out even watching TV and lauhing will raise it. Sleep is the best way to relax enough to lower your blood pressure. The very best thing to do is find out how you ended up with it and change your life style by changing the foods you eat and taking the Vitamins that are available for peope with high blood pressure and if you have a weight problem, most of the time losing weight will cause the high blood pressure to go back to normal.Do some research on Vitamins. I reccomend them to everyone. You would be surprised to find just how wonderful they are and how much better you wil feel.

While massage is good for relaxation it makes the blood circulate the body faster and may affect your blood pressure the only way I suggest that you go is to ask for GP permission to have this treatment done and if anything goes wrong you can blame the incidence on your GP. I am a fully qualified Body Massuer and I have done massage on people with High Blood Pressure but I have to ask there GP first to make sure it is safe to do this. I hope this information helps. Massage improves circulation and therefore can be potentially harmful to someone who suffers from certain conditions, including high blood pressure, particularly if they are taking medication for it as this would be processed quicker. These are called contra indications, meaning they are best avoided and alternative treatments should be sought after. If you have high blood pressure or you are a therapist, always get advice and if needed consent from GP.

Its not harmful. Massage is even a good therapy for a person with high blood pressure because it could help blood circulation.

Yes, it can. Firstly- if your massage therapist does not do a consultation with you after you have told them you have high blood pressure- walk out. They should write to your GP asking if it is advisable to go ahead with the massage. If your on tablets for your HBP and its being managed, then you should be ok.
I am a holistic therapist and I always get clearance from the GP if its a contra indication.

It could be potentially harmful. Massage will raise the blood pressure before lowering it. It promotes circulation, but also promotes relaxation which also lowers BP. It depends on how stable it is and how long you've been taking meds for it (if you have). If you've been on meds for a while and you're doing ok, you should be fine. If all else fails, talk to your doctor.

It should be relaxing to the highest extent. If you have further concerns, you need to get the appropriate advice from a "trusted doctor." Your best posture would be to "keep a daily journal." This way you can keep a daily record of the "interactions" of foods, medicines, exercises and even "folk" who may weigh in on this "subject matter." I wish you well. Peace, Love and God Bless.
