To make light of every situation is done with practice and of course acceptance. Surrender to the fact that there are situations in life that are just not in your control... in fact there will be many, and if you allow them to affect you, then you're in for a lifelong pounding. The only thing that you can really control is your own REACTION to what is in front of you. How much are you going to take before you break? Or are you simply just going to look this horrid, irritating situation in the face, and chuckle politely to yourself before stepping aside and moving on? Have you ever heard the expression "mabigat kasama" and no, that doesn't translate as "He ain't heavy, he's my brother" but it means that Mr. Mabigat is this close to being an emotional vampire. Trouble is, you might look in the mirror one day and see no reflection...so lighten up.

Thanks hon.

i have never known to surrender. but i have made a lot of retreats in my life. to win the war, sometimes you have to pull back and rethink your strategy.

i might lose a battle but i am determined to win the war.

Yes. As in my case, i'd say it's more of acceptance and adjusting to the situation that i cannot change. I cannot alter the alzheimer's disease that's taking the memory and sanity of a housemate (and mine, too, sometimes). Aside from the disease, "mabigat din kasama" - and it isn't just emotionally draining. Sometimes there's even a need to kick the leg of the dining table.

If it's a no-win battle, what else is there to do? Accept... surrender... and adjust. If we cannot change a situation, it's our attitude towards the situation that needs to change. Lose the battle with grace and come out the winner.

Not surrender, maybe just take one step backward.

Fight the battles that are winnable. Capitulate on those that are not, and live another day to fight with renewed vigor tomorrow. Remember the fighting never ends.

There are more lessons to learn from losses than from victories. And be mindful of empty victories – don't waste precious time and energy on meaningless battles not worth fighting.

Most importantly, leave Mr. Mabigat behind before setting out for battle.

the battle never end if no one will accept as loser. it is only a pride not a battle. face the pride than surrender.

"If you think you are beaten, you are
If you think you dare not, you don't
Success begins in your own will
It's all in your state of mind

Life's battle are not always won
by those who are stronger or faster
Sooner or later, the person who wins
is the person who thinks he can"
