You would typically need to have ties to one of the major parties in your state and have prior political experience. Volunteering for the party that best represents your beliefs and getting to know others in your community and their needs is where you start at your age. As you gain experience and connections this way then you eventually run for a small, local office. If you do well in that office you can run for larger offices and maybe eventually you will be a senator.
