1966 was not really that long ago in terms of coins. There were 1,382,734,540 minted so there are still quite a few floating around out there. According to the Red Book (which you should know usually prices things too high) if you have a 1966 coin in perfect condition you can get $1.25 out of it.

Unless the dime is in very high mint state spend it. It had a huge mintage due to the coin shortage starting at the end of 1964. The fools in our government though that the clad and silver coins would circulate together and they did not. The silver coins were hoarded, so we had a coin shortage. there is an old law that states" Bad coinage will drive out good coinage", guess that law is still valid to this day.
