Don't get married, by the dubliners

Either for men or women:

Don't get married girls, you'll sign away your life
You may start off as a woman, but you'll end up as the wife
You could be a vestal virgin, take the veil and be a nun
But don't get married girls, for marriage isn't fun

Oh, it's fine when you're romancing and he plays a lover's part
You're the roses in his garden, you're the flame that warms his heart
And his love will last forever and he'll promise you the moon
But just wait until you're wedded and he'll sing a different tune
You're his tapioca pudding, you're the dumplings in his stew
And he'll soon begin to wonder what he ever saw in you
Still he takes without complaining all the dishes you provide
But you see he has to have his bit of jam tart on the side

So don't get married girls, it's very badly paid
You may start off as the mistress, but you'll end up as the maid
Be a daring deep-sea diver, be a polished polyglot
But don't et caetera...

What do you like about this song?

It's true if you want it to be true. If you marry anyone just to get married, it is true. If you marry for wrong reasons, it is true.

In any other cases, it is not. And I feel sorry for whoever wrote the lyrics or believes in it.

Well I can testify.. it does have some truth to it..

all marriages are different.. ?
the same person can marry 6 or 10 times and get divorced all for different reasons..

I was married once.. and we started off like the song.. but most all marriages do..

and mine and most all marriages end.. like the song..

when they are good they are good and when they are bad they are bad..
once in a while.. a marriage last..
with sacrifices from each.. and it works out.. happy ever after..
BUT NOT OFTEN..

so think it threw ......before u say.. I DO !!!!!

No, just sounds like an angry X wife, if you ask me.

There are many advantages and perks to being married.

When your out together, you have someone always watching your back.

You have someone to open those darn jars, to hold you when your sad.

You don't have to get all prettied up to impress him, he loves you the way you are.

And sex is usually just a wink away.

He is your best friend, your lover, the father of your children and the man you will live with and die with, always by your side.

I like when other women oogle my hubby, it just makes me even prouder, he picked me.

My grandparents have been happily married for 60 years and can't imagine life without eachother, my parents have been married 30. That song doesn't apply to everyone, only the women who settle for less than they deserve.

It happens sometimes. Who ever wrote that had a bad experience. Just take your time and be sure that he loves you sincerely and very deeply before getting married, and always try to keep the relationship fresh and interesting.
