Well, when you look at the presidents during the time period of most of us who waste time on the internet- we do not recall leaders prior to Gerald Ford or Jimmy Carter, so it is easy to select George W. Bush as the worse. Prior to him- many would have selected his father due to the first (undeclared) war with Iraq. However, these are not the only questionable presidents in our history- James K. Polk has also had a history of developing a war with Mexico in a questionable manne, plus his relations to slavery and other issues made Abraham Lincoln confront him as a liar. William Henry Harrison- DIED after getting into office (but him only living for 31 days of his term- he still probably used more of his brain than Dubya!). Franklin Pierce's term had so much personal and political chaos, his party did not support him for a second term. James Buchanan is considered next to the worst American President, by many historians- the "Dred Scott v. Sandford" case, Lecompton Constitution (legalizing slavery in Kansas- where the then governor was anti-slavery), financial panic of 1857, Utah War (sending the US Army in to oust the Mormon Leader).
Warren G. Harding has been the worst with these historians-
He appointed many of his buddies to prominent political positions. Faced the Teapot Dome scandal (The scandal involved Secretary of the Interior Albert B. Fall, convicted of accepting bribes and illegal no-interest personal loans in exchange for the leasing of public oil fields to business associates- Albert Fall also going to prison for this- first member of a cabinet to go to prison). Thomas Miller, head of the Office of Alien Property, convicted of accepting bribes. Jess Smith, personal aide to the Attorney General, destroyed papers, then committed suicide. Charles Forbes, director of the Veterans Bureau, skimmed profits, earned large kickbacks, and directed underground alcohol and drug distribution. Forbes was convicted of fraud and bribery and drew a two-year sentence. Charles Cramer, an aide to Forbes, also committed suicide. Harding's statement as this happened: "My God, this is a hell of a job! I have no trouble with my enemies, but my damn friends, my God-damned friends... they're the ones that keep me walking the floor nights!" ...And nothing specific was ever able to be labeled to Harding, other than neglect of his staff.
When you compare Bush to Harding, they have the same flaws- only Bush actually goes further. There have been questions upon the right of George W. Bush being in office to begin with. He has weakly faced a terrorist attack on the nation without proper defense, improper response to states in need after a huricane (even when other nations were offering assistance). His office has the same sorts of scandals involved- especially those attached to the oil industry- yet he is not innocent. Overall- Bush has many more flaws showing each and every day he is in office. Unlike Harding, Bush has been in term 2 terms rather than dying during his first (Harding in office- March 4, 1921-August 2, 1923). And also, Laura Bush will never be suspected of poisoning her husband since W. has not had food poisoning kill him off, as Harding's wife has been suspected of killing her husband by many after refusing an autopsy...
Now, I am wondering if Laura gave Dubya those pretzels.... If so, I may like her more. ;-)

1) George Bush did not cause 9/11 2) The economic crisis would have happened with or without his help. This is the people's problem. In fact, the only power he has over the economy is imposing taxes. And even he knows that giving the people MORE taxes is not going to make the economy better, its going to create too much apathy and laziness. Our country was long due for a recession. It happens all the time, and we will come out of it. The president has nothing to do with it. Also don't forget that the past two years...with our full democratic congress has been worse than the other six. We elected him again for a reason. As for the worst president...it has to be between Jimmy Carter Bill Clinton Richard Nixon speaking of IQ...they all had very HIGH IQ, yet look at their idiotic reasoning. WHile some of the greatest presidents of all time had lower IQ than George Bush's...which really isn't that low. The democrats and the media have painted George Bush to be the worst president yet, but in reality the problem is not anything near as bad as people think.

The worst US President in the history of the United States was Abe Lincoln, it was his direct influence that started the Civil War on the pretense that it would free the slaves in the South, when the North was also using slave labor at the time.
The issue of freeing the slaves was just a cover up that President Lincoln used as an excuse for attacking the South, and even after the Civil War was over and the North had won, the North was still using slave labor to build roads, bridges and factories that had been destroyed during the war.
President Bush might be considered to be a bad president, but then lets look at some facts:
When other countries were hit by terrorists attacks, those governments did everything they could to prevent another terrorist attack on their populations, but still were attacked again and again, Israel, Spain, UK etc.
The United States has only been attacked by foreign terrorists ONCE, and never agin have we become the victims of another terrorist attack. So, in order to prevent additional attacks against the USA, President Bush took the fight to their homelands and is still preventing terrorists from launching a terrorist attack against the mainland USA!
You dislike our president, and you are entitled to your opinion, however, if you give the guy some credit, especially where credit is due, I think he has done an outstanding job of protecting my country from any further terrorists attacks, as this is my opinion, and the general opinion of a majority of the American People.
If you think he is a bad president, then why don't you run for the Office of the President in the 2008 elections and IF you win, then you will see first hand just how difficult it is to lead a country like the USA in fighting off terrorists.

Cracks me up to hear Liberals badmouth Bush they seam to think he is responsible for Islamic hatred of the USA . Why don't you pick up a history book or even search the web for this topic " Islamic revolution " That's when Islamic hatred escalated against the USA Then look at the years this was taking place. You will also read about a US President is responsible for trying to shove Western civilization down there throats. Even played a big part in overthrowing the Shaw. To date the biggest blunder ever by a US President. His name is Jimmy Carter And he is a Liberal Democrat.

Not by a long shot. Being an effective leader does not go hand in hand with being popular. Leaders have to make difficult chioces and Bush at least had leadership enough to do this.
Carter was much worse, although I do credit his Camp David Accords and he did make the country ready to practially beg for Ronald Reagan.

Absolutely not.George w bush is one of the best ever. His invasion of afghanisthan and iraq were absolutely correct, but he should had prepared for the after effects of the war.His only fault has been that he has not used force against other dictators like in Iran,Zimbabwe, syria etc.he is not tough with the arabs as he should had been and it will be his greatest mistake if he doesnt remove the mullahs from iran.i wish he was president for another 8 years.Jimmy carter was possibly the weakest ever, remember the iranian disaster when he was prez

Actually, the perception that President Bush is the worst president ever is derived from political soundbites of members of the worst Congress ever. In trying to posture themselves as being different from the president, they have resorted to using information taken out of context, or that has been disproven, or that hasn't been properly researched. President Bush has achieved most of his goals he set forth for his presidency--to cut taxes, to increase the job growth, and to hold corporate executives accountable for fraudulant actions by their corporations, to name a few, have all been met successfully.
The worst president in my lifetime was Jimmy Carter. His administration policies resulted in an unemployment rate of 9% and an inflation rate of 12%--the worst economic hardships for the citizens of our country since the Great Depression. In addition, Carter provided Yasir Arafat with millions of U.S. taxpayers' dollars in foreign aid, which Arafat used to finance terrorist attacks against Israel. He also made sure that Iran would become an enemy of the United States; by giving sanctuary in the United States to the murderer who was deposed by the revolution, and by failing to officially recognize the new regime in Iran, resulting in the taking of US and Canadian hostages, and in giving America the title of "The Great Satan." In fact, Carter had a habit of appeasing cruel dictators around the world, rather than enacting sanctions against them. When these tyrants were overthrown, the people of those countries remained angry at the US for supporting those who oppressed them. To this day Carter stands for appeasement of dictators who are guilty of genocide and other atrocities against their own people. He has also proven himself to be anti Israel. The worst president in our lifetime, Jimmy Carter, is still trying to influence the policies of the United States as if he were still president.

Carter is the worst president ever.
Bush was actually a very good president in his first term, but in his second term, he has become a raving liberal. Don't believe me, check his spending, his stance on illegal immigration, and the pu$$y way that he started fighting this war around his second term.
letfreedomring...We are a sovereign nation, and anyone with a brain does not give a damn about what internation law states. However, if you want to go that way, we had the "authority the second Saddam decided to not follow the strict guidelines of the ceasefire from Gulf War I.
