Tough question. If you dig deep enough, you'll find that points of reference are only valuable in relation to other points, i.e. 3 dimensions, distance light would travel in a year, etc...
Mine is eye-level, 2/3rds back into my skull, and slightly above my ears. Oh yeah, my wife too.

What you are asking is about postulates, not points of refernces. One can not go on or do anything without accepting postulates to proceed.
