I can't even begin to answer this question with so little space. Watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dmPchuXIXQ and the corresponding videos in this sequence and you will see what is going on. The international bankers that control this country do not care about you or me, or anyone else. Nuclear war on a limited scale, such as US vs. Iran or North Korea would only strengthen their position, strategically.
mercerdevil, why do you think we are in Afghanistan and Iraq right now? Strategically, they are in between Iraq and a hard place. Pun intended. They are like a cornered animal, they are threatening us because they want to deny the inevitable. They don't stand a chance against the US military. They are using Soviet era missile and ground armament and their air force is mostly US aircraft form 20 years ago and a small amount of Soviet aircraft, SU 37's and the like, which are indeed formidable, as well as F-14's from the Shaw's regime which are no match for our current stuff. The real controllers of our county will bend us to the breaking point, and then they will break us. Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan are just way points along the path of the destruction of the US constitution.
The Iranians are being supplied by Russia and China. Both countries have missiles capabable of reaching the US mainland. Wake up. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are no different that the Korean and Veitnam wars. Proxy wars between communists and the west. Afghanistan to a lesser degree because these people have known only war for the last 25 years and they just want to live without fear of being killed by soldiers from a foreign country. The west and the communists are once again playing the middle east against eachother. I don't care what party you are for, the situation will not change.

Personally, I believe it is more Bush than Cheney, You know he likes a scape goat. The most shocking is that Hillary jumped right in again and signed her approval on it. I saw all the answers you got so far and Honestly I have watch closely over the past 5 years the interactions of Ahmadinajad and Bush. There is no proof that The Iranian President has done any wrong doing, He came here last year for the summit meeting for the United Nations and even after Bush stood up called his country and several others the Axis of Evil he remained Polite and asked many times for anyone To speak with him, more so Bush or someone representing the whitehouse regarding issues of concern they may have. He also asked a several questions that he said he honestly wanted oppinions on. 1) why we feel that palestines should not be able to go home to Isreal as we ran them out. 2) could we show him what we knew about the holocaust.
He went on to say that anyone was invited to come to Iran and the media as well to look any where they desired for Nuclear weapons and He would show them all the nuclear plants where they are and have a right to produce nuclear Power and Energy. Per. Rights given by the United Nations. Again this year he came and spoke at the United Nations last week. You can look it up at www.un.org/webcast and click on General assembly. I have never witnessed a inapropriate action and he is much more informed than our president on the needs of the world.
This is another scare tactic by President Bush and his very few clan members. Ahmadinajad has not threatened this nor any other country. He is not a war nut as Bush is, I am afraid of only one thing and that is that bush will continue to his last day to turn our country into a America the Hated instead of America the Great. It seems he is and has done a good job so far. As far as your question is concerened, This would be the absolutly dumbest thing ever done should he plunge into war with Iran. And it could be the end of America as we know it. Not just because of Iran attacking us but the intire middle east alone with perhaps Japan, Korea, Russia, Germany to name just a few. If Us Americans allow such a thing to happen then we will feel the impact as Iraq's innocents have, with Bombs dropping around us, killing our family members mothers, children, old and young alike before our very eyes. The other Nations are Over the power ambitions of Sir George Bush. Please feel free to not only look at this years speaches to the United Nations Buit Last years as well. Our country Must Make a stand against this action from taking form. We Have The Right. He Works For Us! He Is Not OUR KING. He's a servant of the people and must be stopped. XXXOOO

I think the world will continue no matter what. A war with Iran before we settle things in Iraq and Afghanistan could be the end of the U.S. though. Our military would be overstrained; government officials have already said that the reason Pres. Bush wants to draw back Iraq troop levels is because our mission there is overstraining our military. Having to commit even more military force for an assault on Iran would leave us vulnerable to attack at home. What if Russia and China decide our war-mongering ways is too great of a threat to world peace and decide to ally themselves and take the U.S. down? How many other nation would also be willing to join such an alliance? How could we stop them with so much of our military on the other side of the globe?

How much do the American people know about the Iranian president and his country?. Most Americans don't even know how to spell or pronounce his name correctly. Everything they know only comes from the American media, which is mostly propaganda.
The Bush administration continue to insist that Iran is developing nuclear weapons, contrary to the IAEA (the UN's nuclear watchdog) statements that there is no evidence to indicate that Iran is actively pursuing to possess nuclear weapons.
In 2003, the American people were led to believe that Saddam had WMD's, which became the basis for the justification on the US invasion of Iraq. Now, the whole world knows for a fact that no such WMD's existed.
Now, those same sequence of events are happening all over again.

well, not sure the entire planet would be destroyed but the US would certainly end up in shambles even more than it is. not that Iran poses any real threat to us but our economy is already teetering on the edge of recession and an attack on Iran would hike up gas prices and the price of everything else so our dollar would be worth about 12 pennies. grab a wheel barrel, fill it full of cash to buy a loaf of bread. 3rd World Americana.
but not to worry the mega corps have most of their investment capital in China, India and S. America so all the CEOs will do just fine and for the Bush admin. that's the most important thing..

oh give me a break, you people will believe anything. Anyways a worst of worst case scenario is that Iran gets the bomb and throws one or two of them at Israel before the Israelis retaliate and destroy the entire country with their arsenal. Hardly the end of the world, though it would be the end of Persia.
My friends you show your ignorance once more, If rich Iranians had so much influence in our government, we would have overthrown their theocracy years ago. And Russia and China allying to "destroy our warmongering ways", comon man, they are as much a threat to each other as they are to themselves, speaking about warmongering, I think Russia is a bit to concerned about Chechnya (which they still don't control), and China has numerous low level guerilla wars to fight, not to mention they are all more worried about numerous other regional threats than the U.S., though they will take a shot at us if they see the chance. THEY ARE NO THREAT TO US MILITARILY!!!!

Ever since mankind became civilized (living in permanent cities) every act has brought us closer to the end of the world (defined as the extinction of humans) but it won't happen any time soon unless mother nature/God/whatever has a hand in it by, say, a collision with a moon-sized asteroid.

It's an incredible stretch that it could be the end of the world. It might be the end of Tehran and Israel, and frankly, I'm all for it. I'm sick of it. I doubt, though, that we'll be putting any troops on the ground in Iran. The hundreds of thousands of rich Iranians who left Iran after the Revolution and came here are pushing our govt. to overthrow the Iranian govt. Just like the Iraqi Americans were telling lies to the CIA about Saddam having WMDs, likewise Iranian Americans are telling lies to the CIA, claiming to somehow "magically" know that Tehran wants nukes. I guarantee you it's a lie. Cubans, Iraqis, and Iranians who live here want the USA to invade their countries. We need to wisen up.

Everyone today is weak on War. We haven't even put our full strength into the Middle East, what happened to the days when we fought a two front war, with Nazi Germany and Japan without breaking a sweat? We've gone soft, we've grown complacent, and now that someone wants to pick a fight you lot wold rather curl up and take it. War is hell people. Life is hell. Get over yourselves, War is terrible but for the preservation or expansion of freedom it is necessary. If a war with Iran happens we need to quit playing around and descend on Iran like the riders of the Apocalypse. Iran is a third world country, thee should be no problem, we should kill their leaders, devastate their military and then get out, neutralize the threat for God's-sake.

If Iran is not put into check, they will lead us in that direction. If we do nothing, like Bill Clinton when he was in office for 8 years, we will be attacked again. It is Iran that is causing the problem, not the U.S.
