No, you will not have problems as long as you are sensible.
I wonder if the people who claim it is dangerous have even been in Europe!

Make sure you do not have too much luggage, that you can easily lift your pack or suitcase above your head, and that you can walk with it for some time.

For safety, behave as you would in the big town near where you live, like do not go into the park at night, avoid dark alleys and do not flash wads of money or cards, and do not go home with people / men you have just met.

Use hostels to save on money and to meet other people traveling.

No problem. Most of Europe is very safe. You are more likely to die in a car crash than become a victim of a violent crime. Pickpockets are just about the worst thing you need to worry about.

Needless to say, you should use common sense and avoid certain crime hotspots. Some suburbs of big cities (London, Paris, Rome, Athens...) are unsafe, though of little interest to tourists. Some Balkan and Slavic countries (Lithuania, Serbia, Albania) are not quite as safe as the rest of Europe and not recommended for lone travellers. Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Benelux and the Nordic countries are extremely safe. Stick to those if you are paranoid.

Bad things can happen to anyone regardless of gender, size, race, etc. That said, you'll probably be fine. Backpacking alone across Europe is not uncommon (I've done a bit of it myself), and most people have relatively little trouble doing it.

Depending on what part of Europe you're planning on traveling to makes a difference in how safe it is. In Western Europe violent crime is very rare. However, there is a huge problem with theft, especially tourists being pick-pocketed and such.

I would research the countries that you're planning on visiting, and talking to people that have been to those specific countries.

Another thing that I would definitely suggest is looking into travel groups/organizations (you can find a lot online), and read up on solo traveling, and maybe contact other travelers. You might be able to meet up with other travelers during your trip.

Guide books are also a great reference for tips on travel, and a lot even include information on solo travel. Some of my favorite guide book publishers are:

A great way to meet people in Europe is by staying in hostels. A lot of youth hostels are overflowing with solo travelers, and is a great way to meet traveling companions and new friends!

Good luck, and have fun!

prepare carefully for the stream crossings, you might want a lightweight pair of sneakers that you can take out the insert just to cross the streams, don't try to use flip flops on stream crossings, they will come off and be gone the very first time. When crossing streams you have to move steadily, water will be cold, open shoes like TEVA are good because they will dry quickly but if the water is REALLY cold they don't offer much warmth. Do NOT try to cross streams barefoot, if you injure your foot the rest of the trip is not so good. Whatever you wear all day long you will probably want to remove them when in camp, anything that is super lightweight would be good. Pare down the weight of other nonessentials, but take good care of your feet.

yes. it doesnt matter on your size but your sex. its dangerous to travel around europe alone. i would not recommend it. If you dont know the area its not safe, not even if you know the area but if you dont know it its even more dangerous. If youcould get a traveling companion it would be best.

please dont go alone.

and yes i have been in europe.

Not if you can do Kung Fu, but I wouldn't travel by yourself if I was you. Find some companions.
