Hannibal was a kick butt general. It was because of his defeat of the Romans, that the Romans learned the Pincer Movement and became the force that the did in late centuries.

Also, Kublai Khan could be considered on of the greatest generals.

And, don't forget Napoleon or Patton, but I digress.

They are both great generals but the fact of the matter is Flavius was never trusted by justian 1 and was constantly undermanned and under supplied and always had to face this along with having to defeat opponents who usually always outnumbered him. He also fought many battle maybe not as many Alexander but up there. Didn't accomplish as much as Alexander at Alexanders death but he increased the size of the Byzantine Empire by 45% at the time of his death and it lasted for a longer time then Alexanders did. He is a very interesting person in history.

I'd have to say Alexander. Belisarius was a great general under Justinian, but he wasn't a conqueoror and didn't fight as many battles or different peoples as Alexander. If they were to have been on the same battlefield, however, the legions of Belisarius would've easily overran the Macedonian hoplite phalanxes...which proved to unwieldy against roman legions.
