A is narrow. EE is very wide. The average person is a C. But shoes vary alot from brand to brand, so be sure to check the catalog's return policy before you order.

Go to a shoe store and have them measure your foot, then go home and order shoes from catalog.

If the catalog does not include a size diagram you can lay on the floor and stand on (or print out if on line), then find another source.
If nothing else, go to a real store and look at what they have and ask them to measure your feet.
It is silly to guess.

Stop by a shoe store at the end of the day when your feet have the tendency to be most swollen, and have them professionally measured. Make sure you get someone who knows what they are doing, and measures them with you standing on the measuring rule.
