I want that big country sized house....with lots of lawn....a barn shed with a play area and loft.....a pond/animal wildlife area (even if I have to build this myself to attract more animals). Thats my dream place.....but I dont want to go too far from convenience.....meaning my walmarts, malls, wawas, downtown, ocean front, amusement parks and everything else near me...not to mention all the friends and family...
Would you move if it meant more space, bigger house, or just more of nature? Is there a limit to how far you'd go?

I personally moved 50 miles out of the city. I LOVE my house. I hate the drive. It was a compromise. I couldn't afford the home of my dreams in the town that I was living. And it would have lacked many of the things I was looking for...like SPACE.
While I do wish I could pick up my house and move it closer into the city...smack dab in the middle would be ideal...I do enjoy my house.
Sometimes, you have to compromise. I would first do a thorough investigation of the neighborhoods just outside of your city. Perhaps you could find someplace close enough in that provides what you are looking for. But before making the big move and BUYING anything, I would try renting for a couple of months to see how you like it.
For me...it was a major culture shock!! I've been here ten years and I'm still not over it. Ha.

To far is too far! Then it all becomes drudgery and not the fantasy of pleasurable gardening in serene surroundings! It's a time for everything and no time to "kick it" or go to an amusement park if there was one within 500 miles! City--definitely city! And put a nice little get away garden retreat in your yard or patio, buy a water garden and throw in a Koi or a goldfish get a good book, put your feet up on foot rest and settle into your deck chair with the sound of tinkling water from your fountain water garden and the breeze stirring through potted Hibiscus and the scent of jasmine from your little trellis! How limiting is that? :)

I did it. Last year I moved on a 100 acre farm with about 90 acres of woodlot barns and a very large garden. It takes me about about 45 min to an hour to commute to town but i love the country.

I would move. I live in the city and I have tossed the idea of moving four hours away just so my kids can have snow and country. A place where they can run in my yard without fear of people harassing them. I have had a kid call my children the f word and he was 15 and they are 3 and 6 only for this same kid to later shoot himself in the head and kill himself. I would definantly move. Damn house market wont let me.

Didn't have to . Already there , except for the ocean part . Do have rivers, creeks, ponds within 1/2 mile . Yes I would move . Whenever I'm anyplace flat, & without water , I feel naked , & ~(agitated+anxious+depressed+ not sure what to call it ....)

i'm an East Coast lady and that i've got basically considered the southern California component to the West Coast, so i might ought to pass with East Coast. BTW, that grew to become into no longer unfavourable remark in the direction of So. Cal. i'm purely greater familiar with the East Coast.

I would do it in a heartbeat. As for the "conveniences", I have them and use them, but only because they are "handy". Going to town to get what you need once every 2-4 weeks would be my idea of heaven, as long as there is plenty of pasture for my horses and places to ride them.

Wouldn't go already there. I have bear, deer, raccoons, foxes, skunks, & squirrels visit my yard. I prefer them to malls and can drive to a mall and WalMart anytime I want.

Yes, I would in a heartbeat....an hour to get my groceries is about it. As it is now, I have to drive 45 minutes to get to a mall....and I'm okay with that.....
