It is alleged that jesus christ came to this earth some 5000 years ago. considering the horrendous state of the world today, would it not be appropriate for him to pay us another visit now to get us all out of this bloody mess we're in?

Actually, if there was such a person as Jesus Christ (actual name would've been more like Moses of Nazareth) the date would've been more like 2000 years ago.
But the Gospels (books written 20 to 40 or more years after Jesus' death) stated that he would come back in the lifetimes of his disciples. Since then, Christians have lived in fear that any second the second coming would be right around the corner.
But there is no evidence that our times are any more likely for a return visit that any other

Actually that would be 2,000 years ago. According to the best interpretation of the clues in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, Joshua bar Joseph (also known as Jesus of Nazareth) was born sometime between 10 B.C. and 4 B.C. and based on the clues in all four Gospels died sometime between 30 A.D. and 33 A.D.

Regardless of whether you follow the Muslim scriptures or the Christian scripture, the first coming was not to get us out of any mess. Likewise, if you read the New Testament, its going to get a lot worse before it gets better. The events surrounding the second coming are not for the faint of heart or readers of pop apocalyptic materials.

What bloody mess are you talking about. I guess the spanish inquisition, Native American genocide, incineration of 6 million of Jehovah's Chosen People, and countless other massacres and genocides were not bloody enough?
