Most printers have a feature built in the software that allows you to clean and align the cartridges. Even though they are new this might help you with the problem.

check your print quality. i'm not sure about it in canon printers. just check your printer's properties and look for a setting that let's you choose if your print out should be in fast draft, ... select normal.

try cleaning your cartridges if that doesn't work. your printer has bundled softwares for printer maintenance.

hope that helps...

I had a similar problem with my HP. Printers are just crappy. I go through about 2 printers a year.

Clean the print head, and check for anything blocking it like a piece of paper. Even a scrap of paper will make it mess up like you describe.

Although your ink is new, please change it with another one. If the problem exists then send it for servicing to any hardware shop.
