Being a bit older than you, quite a bit to be truthful, I can tell you that that phrase "been there, done that" applies very much to me now. I can tell you that your worries are typical for where you are in life. I KNOW it's stressful, believe me. My remedy you've heard before, but, here it goes anyway. Stop what you're doing, push the chair away from the computer or desk, take a deep breath or two or three, and place this thought in your head: This too shall pass. No truer words could be spoken here. And one day, I promise you, you will be a lot closer to where you want to be than you are now. I can also guarantee you that you won't always be able to see that you're "going down the right path". I've had several careers, and graduated from universities three times so far, and I never cease to be amazed at how I got where I am, because it's so far off the track that I imagined, and yet the results couldn't be more of what I've dreamed of since I was a teenager or younger, that it just flabbergasts me. Even though I'm old enough to be your dad, according to your question, I know I've got plenty of life left to live, God willing, and so I'm aware that things can change, but my life has been so full of changes, and so many of them not anything I'd have imagined, and yet, through all the painful and tough times have been some really nice ones, and, somehow, I'm in a place in life that I almost quit dreaming of since I couldn't see how I'd ever get what I have now. Stay energetic. Do your homework. Keep a responsible eye out for career possibilities, and then just be very sure that God's going to take care of the rest. Actually, He's doing all the hard work. You're just doing the "window-dressing". I know you don't know that, but remember, your words are my exact words of maybe 35 years ago, and I'd have NEVER believed it if you told me this back then, and I'd have NEVER believed that my life would be so great. Oh, it's got some "soft spots" or bruises in it, but I've become man enough to handle that, so far. I just need to follow my own advice and just sit back, take a deep breath, and smile. God knows you're suffering and if you'll just look up to Him, He'll realize you've turned to the One who'll get it all done the way it needs to be, and then you can return to doing all the "window-dressing" that makes you feel like it was all your efforts that got it done. It helps our egos, even though it's wrong. You're gonna do just fine. Trust me on this one. God Bless you.

I believe that pondering about stuff that you've typed out is all something that -everyone- does at some point in their lives. If anyone calls you emo or depressed for thinking this way (you'd probably know if you were depressed, and you'd definatley know if you were emo), then you shouldn't let their rude statements bother you. :) As for my own opinions on the subject...I don't think that we can ever really know what the point of life is. We can ask ourselves, however, what the point of not living is. People sometimes think that suicide is the way out. While I understand that there are often a lot of factors that go into thoughts like this (I've tried to kill myself before, so, I have experience, which sounds awful I know), you can still think about it in a general sort of way. What's the point of not existing? So you can't go outside every day and breathe the fresh, cool air? So you can't build relationships with people, ones that involve love? Wondering about the point of life is all a part of living. If you didn't wonder about those things, you would be living in the dark (in a way). Life isn't just about death, or about your funeral, etc. You have every day to make something of yourself. To show emotion in everything that you do. To accomplish things, or possibly make the world a better place. That's one big thing that certain people have been put on the Earth to do: make the world better for their posterity. I don't know who you are, but who knows what you could become. I'm not trying to feed you the American dream antic, but you can't deny that no one knows what the future holds. In my opinion, you should think about all of things that you could do in your lifetime. But, that's just how I think. It might sound super-optimistic, but I think it's a good way to do things. Good luck! :)

I hate to tell you this, but, you are living the life you always dreamed of. I cant change your mind about what you want to do with your life but i can tell you that you must do what you most enjoy and that will benifit you the most for the next 65yrs of your life until your death. Taking out a loan is the worst thing you can do at the moment because that creates more stress. You must look at yourself and see what you want to do. Have a good hard look and whatever you do make sure that you think logicly the whole time. Remember, you cant run away from your troubles. They will catch up with you later in life.

Try talking to a school counselor about some of your concerns and stress, but running away won't solve anything. Taking time off for awhile sounds find, but if you get yourself into credit card debt, you will soon find you can't get a car or apartment and then you will really be in a bind.
You may also have a very high expectation of what you will achieve soon after graduation. Sometimes succeeding in what you want to do takes time. You don't have to give up on your dream, just try to be practical about it.

Everyone is in a hurry to get you into the harness--
I remember the day I finally had enough of the bills and the people telling me what i shoudnt and should do and I decided right there to go my own way.
And I have never looked back nor regretted a minute.
You are young with it all. Follow your dreams. If school is important its
always there.
A year off --a whole year to yourself
as long as you need.
Believe in you and your possibilities.
The only way you will find out
good Luck

There will always be something in your life that stresses you out.
Figure out what makes you happy and helps you cope with your stress, and that will help you throughout your life. That of course, may change as the stresses in your life change, but you always have to have something that you like to do too.
