I think you are looking for the reaction that happens as a result of the sodium/ potassium pump. Those two ions have opposite charges and once the correct proportion has been achieved then a chemo-electrical chain reaction can happen allong the nerves axon when the nerve is agitated. This transmits the information to the next nerve etc.
