I love names, and am always drawn to the "baby names" category. Now, I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but some answers on here are rather aggrivating!
Like, the answers who criticise someone for choosing to name their baby a new, or modern name. Saying it is "fake" and that they should name them an older name.
In some situations I agree.. because there ARE some crazy names out there.
But with the more "modern" names..
When they say that "your child will never get a job with a name like that" or "they will hate having such an uncommon name.." do they not realize that there will be WAY more Brynnlies, and Peytons out there than Susans and Betties.
The names that are "different" and "new" today are in fact going to be normal, everyday names when the children grow up.
I guess I was just wondering if anyone thinks the same way as me, or has any opinions on this topic=)

I think it's fine that everyone expresses their thoughts, but I think that first, they need to consider that the next generation is going to be full of the modern names:)

Every generation is full of 'modern names'...
Susan and Jennifer used to be modern, trendy names...now they're not, because most Susans and Jennifers range in age from their 20s to their 50s.
The Peytons and Madisons of the world, which is a 'modern' name now, will someday be considered an old trend...
Classic names are classic because they never go away, they stand the test of time. Trendy names are just that - trendy, and trends change quickly.

I definitely agree. When giving an opinion on a name, you don't have to be a jerk about it. Just simply state whether you like it or not. That's all. People come here expecting opinions on names so if you don't like it, then that's fine. Making rude comments is uncalled for though. Everyone has a different taste, and not everyone is going to agree with everything.
There ARE some really crazy names out there though! Ones that I would never even be able to think of.

Very few people name their children these modern made up names, except for small groups of people who know one another. Most people still prefer traditional names, and it will always be that way. And that is okay.
You have to think of the children and not so much of making much of yourselves as the parents. There are some beauitful names out there, so why make up the most outrageous names you can think of just to be different? It is embarrassing.
No. I don't agree with you.

You make a very good point. More and more people are naming their children as you say more "modern" names. Besides if we don't start spicing up the names, there are going to be a whole lot of people with the same names. Thank you for pointing this out.

i agree that these names are going to be normal when they grow up. but i do hate when ppl are like Jayden is such a unique and original name lol are you freaking kidding me if you look at the most popular name list on a site that only has one way to spell it it is in the top 40 for both boys and girls. i don't like the modern trendy names but that is just me. i really hate the whole Hayden Brayden Jaden Caden thing it drives me crazy and ppl always think they are naming there kid something unique. and there are way to many ways to spell them there is 3o something different ways to spell Caden

whatever the PARENTS decide, that's the name the kid gets. When the kid turns 18, if they do not like their name, they can petition a court to have it legally changed. There is no "right" or "wrong" name, and as to the future, who knows what "NORMAL" names will be ?

Absolutely you are right.. and I also believe what makes all these changes has to do alot with culture, and people wanting to stick to their roots but...with a twist of new. I love it.. and I love hearing different names. Good Topic.
