Not very well anymore, because when you happen to bring it their attention, they look at you like you are nuts.

For instance, just two days ago, I went to a small, old-time country store/take out, where they have very upscale deli items for sale and I ordered a sandwich. This has not been the first time I have noticed this happening there, but the first time I ordered a sandwich from there & knew if it happened when I put in an order, that I was going to have to say something & of course it did.

The person/people that work there never wash their hands when going from food to money, nor do they wear gloves while handling the food. So, I watched him make my sandwich and in between he had to do a money transaction and never went back to wash his hands after this and just before he put his hands back on my food, I said to him, "Would you mind too terribly washing your hands before handling my food now?". I wasn't rude or threatening, in fact, I was pleading more than anything else and if looks could kill, his look would have killed me. No comments at all from him, nothing and & he did not go back to wash his hands. Needless to say, I quietly walked out the door when he turned his back to finish putting my sandwich together. For this reason, I am not going back there, ever.

Ask the waitperson for a clean cup or utensil.

in the hustle and bustle of a very busy restaurant, things get overlooked. as much as we try to check things, they get past us once in awhile. just ask for a clean glass or spoon.

Simple, ask the waiter or waitress to bring you something clean, nicely.

Mistakes are made by all of us. As long as I catch it before I use it, I just ask for a new one. If its all dirty, I walk out.
