Lately, my cycle has been off due to anxiety and stress issues, but it's been leveling it's self out. Just recently (it ended early this morning) I had my period, and for the entire 3 1/2 4 days of it, I had very large clots of blood that normally aren't there. There have been clots or two in previous periods, but never as frequently or as large as the ones I have recently experienced.
I am sixteen years old, and have been experiencing menustration since I was 11.

It depends on what you mean by large. My doctor has told me that they should not be bigger than a nickel. If they get worse I would go to the doctor.

It can be normal to have large clots during your period. If it gets excessive, painful, with really heavy cramping, and you are totally unhappy, your gynecologist (yup, tell your mom, its time you get an appt with one).... to discuss your options on both birth control and managing your period.
There are some great low dose birth control pills that make your period really light and greatly reduce any clotting, and also treat endometriosis.
A Gyn will also be able to determine whether you are passing clots or if there is some other tissue present (if you know what I mean). So basically your GYN will be your best friend here.
If you don't have insurance, go to a clinic.
Other than the pill, there are many other options that can help you. this is an intesely personal choice, birth control and menstral flow, but it is a time now to do some research and give it some thought. Usually it takes about 3 months before your body totally normalizes on the pill.
I experiemented and take the pill continually, so I have only 3-4 periods per year, thus lessing the stress and emotional and personal inconvenience of having regular periods.
So, as you can see, there is a lot to know. It is important as you grow into your womanhood, that you are both educated about your reproductive organs, and empowered to take action and make decisions about your body, for your body, health, comfort and safety. Its usually easier to talk to strangers than our sisters and mothers, so the GYN or your school nurse may be the best places to start.
Make sure you get plenty of rest, take it easy, and try to relax and accept this process as much as possible. This is a normal part of life, and one which we can hold with reverence and awe at our creative potential.
Best of luck!

Blood clots, yes. Large blood clots, perhaps. Very large blood clots, no. Call your gyno and see what they define as large. They may want to check you out, plus they can put you on a prescription to ease with the cramps. I was on Ponstel for a while.

Some clots are normal but if these are pretty big I would suggest seeing your doc to get checked out. You could possibly have Endometriosis or it could be nothing but I would suggest seeing your doc to be sure.

some people do have bad periods so it is a common issue. you can get on birth control to better regulate it - maybe see a dr as to what else they suggest... i would see a dr anyway just because losing that much blood can cause anemia

Please talk to your parents so they know what's going on. They may decide to take you to a doctor.
