If you only want positive opinions of names, regardless of what people actually think of them ... why bother posting them at all? I'm curious.
I received a message from kittykrazii22 saying I was horribly rude and must have children with hideous names! What?! LOL And of course, I cannot even see the names or comments in question! I try to be sure my thoughts come across in a clear, helpful manner -- no matter how terrible I might (secretly) think a name LOL -- and as tactfully as possible. If something is too popular or trendy for my taste, I'll simply say so. If it's misspelled (especially in the case of a unisex name), I'll point out that there's no need to do that, and to simply use the name you love regardless of traditional gender. If it's an unusual but real name, I'll commend the parents for having their own style, whether it's MY style or not. So really, what about that is so rude it would warrant a personal attack?
So I ask: if you only want smiles and nods, why post?!

Noelle (with copyright LOL): Too funny. I assure you, I've never replied with anything close to "EWW THATS A STUPID NAME EW WHATS WRONG WITH U OMGGZ!"... but I know you know that. ;) I do exactly as you -- rather than simply saying "that's horrible" (LOL), I might say "That's a great name, but I'd stick with the traditional spelling, personally," or "While I think Lulu is an adorable nickname, I'd probably use a formal version just to give her some options as she ages." ;) Options are never a bad thing! I never understand why pointing that out is taken as a negative. LOL
So yes ... I agree with you (and everyone else who was nice enough to respond).
Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one bugged by this, guys! ;)

Well, I agree with you - why do people ask for opinions but get angry when people are frank or disagree with their picks? I guess if you're heart set on a name, no one's negative opinion about it is going to change your mind. However, I have been rude about it when answering questions. I have on multiple occasions replied to a question about Jayden or Kaiden or Ashlynne, etc. simply by saying, "gross" or "nonononono". And I really don't care. It's not like any of you know me and are going to ignore me the next time we see each other at the grocery store, or stop answering my phone calls, or anything like that. If you ask for my opinion I will give it. And also, the more misspelled words or text type you use, the ruder I will be. That's just the way it is. Irish Mommy, I often agree with your answers, and I sometimes wish I could be as diplomatic as you are, but I know it's probably not going to happen ;)

They're extra misbehaved, ignorant, and boastful. Forget being devout, that is the least that matters me, however they have got undoubtedly no regards for morals. They do not appear to have any admire for his or her possess mum and dad, permit by myself authority. They flunk institution and it indicates of their usual, everyday speech as good as their routine. I've had plenty who have stated I'm now not an Asian due to the fact that Asians are individuals ONLY from China & Japan (even as Pakistan IS within the continent of Asia). They have no idea useful matters, reminiscent of geography or a fundamental grade 7 Algebra query. Oh, and supposedly, Egypt's in Europe beside Germany (or so, I've been advised by means of those dumb idiots). That's yet another well one, they use the time period "it seems that" rather of "supposedly".

I agree with your thinking. People should not post their questions if they do not want honest answers. If they do not want to know what people really think, then they should not ask. The point of asking a question is getting answers/ opinions, not lies and bull****. While I can understand if people are sometimes shocked by the responses,I think that people that ask should be prepared for negative opinions. After all not everybody in the world has the same opinion. Common sense.

I agree with you, however I do also think that being rude and being blunt are two different things. If someone does not like a name posted in a question, fine, but there's no need to be completely rude. As in, "EWW THATS A STUPID NAME EW WHATS WRONG WITH U OMGGZ!"....but say it nicely; "No offense, but I really dislike that name. The spelling is very off, in my opinion..." and ect. Explain why you dislike it.
I agree with you :o)

I agree with you, I think people post on here to find out what others think of the names, etc. not to hear what they want to hear. People should leave honest, not rude opinions, that are thoughtful. There is no need to criticise other people, but if you don't like the name they have chosen, say it nicely, like its not my top pick but hey if you like it, its gonna be your child. lol. No need for rude crude comments, just honest ones.

I agree! I can't stand it when people pull some really really awful name out of their butts, then can't take criticism. I think people don't realise how bad the names are, then are surprised when people tell them so.
I mean, it's like when people pull out names like Sara and Tara, or Oliver and Olivia, then get all offended if I say something like, "I think twins should have names as individuals, here's some ideas."

you are so right! also why do people pretend every awful made up misspelled name out there is so great and unique when we all know how hideous they truly are??? if you don't want an honest opinion then don't ask or quit making up horrid names and try to get someone to act like they are so unique or good when they are not!!! and even so do not get angry if someone gives you their honest opinion, they do not have to agree with you,so stop the crybaby attitude!

i agree. since i started on yahoo i have seen some of the most horrible names, and to think that there may be a poor kid walking around that has to answer to one of them is a disgrace. i am like you though i will say what i think. go ahead and do your thing who cares if you step on some toes maybe there are a few kids that you have saved from the horrible fate of a bad name and many years of torment from other kids!

I agree, and with some of the awful names I have seen here they should realise that that is how people in the world will also react, and that it's not fair to lumber your child with something unique (like Soda) as they will just get tortured their whole life.

i agree it's ok to say "ew i dont like that' or whatever. people on here think my real name (Charity) is awful and the worst thing a parent could do but i dont mind that they said that. thats their opinion.i actually like it, it means my name won't become super popular, like my sons did, anytime soon
the only thing that i dont like it when people say "think about what they have to go through with that name" or "they will have to use that on resumes etc." unless you have one of these "awful" names you can't cast that judgement on a name. most people i see on here are agreed my name sounds like a cheap stripper name and such and have said the same things to me. but i have never been made fun of or had to explain my name in an interview. it has never hindered nor harmed me.
