There are books in your public library that take you through the submission process step by step. You will learn from them the details of standard manuscript format; where your name and title should appear on the first and subsequent pages; how pages should be numbered; required font; script length...etc. There is too much to cover here, I'm sorry. Try to find a current copy of Writer's Market by Writer's Digest Books (available at your library). It lists all book publishers and their requirements. Some just do not accept unsolicited manuscripts for consideration, you see. Much of the information you'll need is in Writer's Market. Some of what you'll need is not. Start there, though, and you can't go wrong. Other books for evolving writers can be found in the same section, so don't forget to check them as well. I wish you the very best.

First the book has to be written and edited and in proper manuscript format. Then you get Writers Market or Literary Marketplace (a reference book at the library) and start seeking either agents or small publishers currently accepting queries in your genre.
Read their submission guidelines and follow them to the letter. Usually that means a query letter with a synopsis of a certain length. E mail or snail mail depending on what they accept. If they say they accept multiple submissions, you may query TWO such publishers at the same time, but be sure you state you are querying another publisher as well.
Remember you cannot query the major publishers. They do not accept unsolicited queries. They deal only with A List agents. Queries from authors get slush piled and then form letter declined.
If an agent or publisher is interested, they will request a full or partial manuscript and a book proposal. You must learn to write a book proposal that is top notch. That is your #1 selling tool. There are books you can buy with examples and tutorials inside.
If you go to my profile, you will find I star all the great Q and A regarding publishing and writing for you to use. Take advantage of them by printing out a batch to study. There is a wealth of information there. I add more all the time.

PS AUTHORHOUSE is a a vanity press. Repeatedly in the 10 Worst Publishers in America. They should be avoided at all costs. They send people here to push their services. We call them sockpuppets. Do not believe a word of it. They are in tons of lawsuits from unsatisfied authors. Steer clear.
