There are lots of passions to follow in San Diego and that hotelbye is the place to begin discovers what San Diego has to offer. In the San Diego holiday you'll step external of one's comfort zone and you'll examine new activities while you are here and you might only see that acquiring a new goal is an adventure in itself. One of many places should see from San Diego is Balboa Park. That park has over a 1400 acre and here you will find old houses, numerous museums, gardens, and natural space. The park was made for the Panama California Exhibition of 1915-1916. The commonplace architecture is Spanish-Mexican design, low stage buildings that merge with the organic surroundings. Check out the Horton Grand Hotel. It's in the Gaslamp district. I stayed there a few years ago and it is really nice. Each room has a unique theme and French doors which open onto a balcony overlooking a courtyard. It reminded me of a Southern setting like Charleston. It is safe, they have security guards. It is well lit and within walking distance of the HOB's. Rates vary depending on the season. There is a restaraunt and bar there.
As an afterthought...What group is so good that it is worth the drive from Vegas? No matter, just enjoy your time spent.

There's a couple of hotels downtown that I don't think cost that much. One is the Comfort Inn Gaslamp and the other is the Hampton Inn Downtown. A little higher price is the Doubletree Downtown. You'll still need to drive over to the House of Blues though. There's a building across the street from HOB called On Broadway that has a parking garage.

The Courtyard Marriott is connected to the House of Blues.
(Sixth and Broadway)
Also try the Gaslamp Plaza Suites, Fifth and E St ( 1 block south) the Ramada, Sixth & E St (2 blocks south) or the Comfort Inn Gaslamp (3 blocks South) Seventh and G St. The Horton Grand is located at Fourth and Island (6 blocks south of the HOB) All of these properties are in the Gaslamp and are very safe anytime.

Try the Double Tree in San Diego/near Del Mar. It's a short drive to HOB, but really nice and I felt really safe. Good rates on weekends... and they give you a hot fresh baked cookie when you check in... yummy.
