I have two computers(both in bedrooms) that are on a wireless network. I want to buy a printer that i could put in the living room and not have to worry about wiring it to a computer or a router or whatever. Is there such thing and if there is do you know of a good model?

You could get an HP6980 or similar model. It has built-in network capability so it connects to your router or switch and you can print from any machine on the network that has the print driver installed.

If you want wireless connectivity, they are available as well, but they are more expensive.

The HP officejet pro 5500 is wireles, but over $200 at Newegg. Lexmark makes a cheap one, but well, its LEXMARK.

Network printers on a home network are ideal for being shared by 2 or more PCs (or laptops).

We use a device called a D-Link DP-101P+ Print Server.

You plug one end into the printer's parallel port. The other side of the device has an RJ-45 network jack. You connect a CAT-5 network cable to your router. Assign an IP address to the print server, configure the printer in your PCs/laptops and you're good to go.

These printers are called Network Printers. However your computers will still have to get to it through your router, so it will either need a wireless or wired connection to your router.

Search for Network Printers and there will be lots of options.

Look for a wireless print server, that connects the printer to a WiFi router.

I think HP makes one.

there are 2 possiblities...

1- you can buy a wireless printer
2- you can get an apator for your printer that you have now that allows it to be connected to the network and so it can share the connection.
