Start locally. There are tons of theatres in Boston. Check them out, many of them probably offer classes and workshops for kids.

Agents do not cost anything. They take 10% of your pay after they help get you a SAG contract job. Anyone who tries to charge you anything up front is a fraud.

As for your resume, you don't start with commercials. You start with theatre and student & indie film roles. That's what is generally expected. You can't get anything but a spec commercial without an agent anyhow.

Get the training first. Get into classes then audition for theatre. Once you have afew roles to put on your resume, start auditioning for student and indie films. You can also look to your state for help. Do a web search for Massachusettes film and see what sites come up. There should be sites for your state film commissions, alliances, etc. They may have info on classes, auditions, etc.

You can also try looking on backstage.com and actorsaccess.com. When you're ready for an agent, you go to SAG.org, send your headshot and resume to legit agents and see if they're interested.

Good luck

You might talk to the English teacher and see is she would supervise the production of some plays at school. You can try to get into casts in community theatres, but they rarely have roles for younger actors. Boston should be a place of rich artistic heritage. I happen to know it has acting schools and agents and the works. Agents are not expensive as your first answerer would have you believe. They cost you nothing. But they will not be interested in you until you are good enough to compete with the best actors in the world or unless you have a saleable look. What is with your school? Do they have athletic teams? I hope you can find a way to start acting and that you discover you are good at it. Oh, and about the HB Studio, which was once a first rate acting school. It is not so hot these days. If they take anybody, they are only interested in making money, not in training actors.

You can get into acting by auditioning for community playhouse productions. If you're good, you will definitely land some parts. If you shine, you will have write-ups in the local newspapers. Then you can get an agent. If you want private acting lessons, the community playhouse will direct you to experienced teachers. If you're really serious you can attend HB studio in New York. That doesn't require any experience. They're happy to take everybody. My oldest daughter went there. She moved all the way from California just to attend.

agents are free. If you are paying them they are robbing you. They get a certain amount of money you make from your acting jobs. so you need to be good so they get money. I suggest you transfer schools or go to acting classas outside of school. There has to be tons in boston

we don't have it either (to my great regret) but maybe you need to look around, and see if there are clubs that you can join, or something like that.
and yes I believe agents are rather expensive.

Yes, I think they are. Usually, the price is about 30% / up of what you earn at each job. And they won't just agent themselves to anyone.
