EmaWeeE, the choice is all in your hands. You can choose to do your homework, study and apply yourself at school and possibly get your phone replaced. You will not be able to say anything to your mother to fool her about your grades, she can contact your school any day she chooses to and she will eventually see your report card. You can choose to do nothing, continue to do poorly at school and try to coast through life and I can guarantee you will not get your phone replaced. It is not cool or clever to appear "stupid" to others ,especially when you have ability and choose to not apply yourself. If you put as much effort into doing your work as you did in trying to avoid it your grades would be better.Take care EmaWeeE, it's time to start making some good choices for your future.

Why is it impossible to get anything above a C? Your school contains the letters A and B still, does it not?

It seems that the deal was simple...if you apply yourself and raise your grades then you get the new phone. Your mom doesn't seem to have left any room for loopholes, so I'm sure it's impossible to *make* her do what *you* want if *you* are not willing to apply yourself more in the first place.

She's trying to pass on teachings of the rewards we can get out of life if we are willing to work for it. In real life, nothing is free and people have to work to have what they want. Go with it...buckle down, get a B, and get your new phone.

Look at it this way...some parents would be asking for straight A's...at least you don't have to do that.

Well, You MIGHT pass in spelling if you can spell PHONE right! School is not that hard. Think about it for a minute. You do school for a few more years until you are done, then you go to college, get a degree, then get a job. How you do in school RIGHT NOW affects your entire future, especially if you are in Highschool. You wont be able to get into a good college if you dont get good grades. Focus on getting your new phone and maybe that will modivate you to do better in school. Maybe get a tutor.

Babysit, save your money, and get yourself a phone. Usually you can get about 5 dollars an hour for babysitting and you can get a nice phone for around 50-100 dollars, and then a plan for around 30 dollars a month.

And how come it's so hard to pass classes? Have you considered getting tutored so that you can pass your classes? Your profile says you are a freshman and I'll tell you right now that failing classes looks REAL BAD when you apply for colleges.

Edit: Well, if you don't want a job, then you are completely at your mother's mercy. Tell her you're trying real hard and school's just too hard for you, and ask her if you can get tutored. It all depends on how badly you want the phone.

you could make it look like your trying to make an effort. like stay after school for extra help in the class you got the 45 in. if your mom sees that you are trying and that your grades have gotten better since last year she may cave. my mom stays off my back about my grades when she knows that im actually working and doing the best i could. stay after school for extra help (remember you have nothing better to do?), make flashcards (they really work) or even ask the teacher if they could make a study guide a few nights before the test so that you get a better grade. i remember having a 45 or 48 average in spainsh last year. i got that 45 to a 68 within like half a quater. so it is possible.

If you're smart enough to operate your computer and play with Yahoo Answers, you're smart enough to at least pass with Cs in your classes. So that would tell me that you aren't really "trying." You're doing what you can to get by and now realizing that it won't be enough to get the phone. Yes, PHONE. The mature thing to do would be to focus on school and get the grades because you want to pass and succeed in life, not because you want a phone. If you don't get the grades by December, be mature about it. Don't whine and beg. Just say "Mom, I didn't do it, I'm going to do better this semester, and maybe we can get the phone in May if I get one A and at least Cs in everything else." That is what you say if you REALLY want the phone. And don't just say it. DO IT.

Sometimes, it's not about what you WANT. If you think you are going to fail, you are. There's no doubt about that. You need to try, and from the information provided, you aren, 't. Get tutoring, ask for redo's on tess, study, bonus points, extra credit.... the list goes on and on. If you want a phone, you need to work for it. Talk to your teacher. You're going to need a job at some point (I've been working since I was 14) better to start sooner.

LIKE I don't no. Maybe LIKE try hrdr or something.

If you hadn't abused your phone & taken it for granted, then you wouldn't need a new phone in the first place.

It isn't impossible to do well in school. I highly doubt all of the kids at your school all have grades under a C.

Grow up & take responsibility. Try harder, do your homework, take care of your belongings, etc.

You abused the phone you have, and you think you are entitled to have another one, and you don't want a job to get it. Yea, you don't deserve the phone. You aren't trying very hard or you would have better grades by now, the school year has barely started.

well the first step to that is actually spelling phone right. And then maybe you could study a little bit infront of her, and then you could show her a not so good test and then a better one the next week from the same class. OR you could actually try harder in school
