when i have a word and i type something before it it just goes into the spots i already have and takes away letters.

I think you hit the insert key once, you can look up "typing replaces section" on the help screen for more info

You have the wrong setting on whether to overtype or insert. Press the insert key. Otherwise each character you type will replace the next character after your cursor and that is the symptom you reported.

press the "insert" key on your keyboard. you'll see that the "ovr" notification in the bottom part of your word window will be toggled on and off. keep this off.

You have to press the "Insert" button on your keyboard. It may say "Insert" or "Ins". everytime you press it, it'll turn on or off the feature. That's it!

On your keyboard, above the delete key a key that says "home".Click that one and see what happens.
