Not always. Many people who commit suicide have thought about it for many years. It takes a lot of courage to finally make the decision and carry it out.

The natural instinct of survival is very strong. It is hard to actually come to that point of actually doing some overt act that will end your life.

It is a decision.

Unfortunately, it can be a very permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Because you commit suicide doesn't mean your a quitter. It means that you have come to a point where you see no way out. A suicidal person is mentally ill and depressed. Sometimes the pressures are too big to handle or you think everyone is better off without you. It has absolutely nothing to do with being a loser. Very successful people have a statistically high rate of suicide.

It is.. but when you are in that kind of pain, it can seem like the only answer if you do not have a good support system. I wouldn't word it like that .. that a person is a quitter.. just someone in a terrible amount of pain making a poor choice for a solution. What people in that situation don't realize is the life long effects it has on everyone around them.

When a person is at the point of CONSIDERING SUICIDE, I think calling that person a "quitter" is NOT adequate or accurate.

A SUICIDAL person is DEPRESSED, feeling HOPELESS, mentally INCAPACITATED, and in a state so low, that they are INCAPABLE of thinking clearly... Calling someone in that state of mind, a "quitter", is way too simplified.

For a person to get to the point where they become OBSESSED with taking their own life, they have to be at the very LOWEST point in their life. They usually have experienced so much LOSS, and so much PAIN in their life that KILLING themselves seems like a GOOD option to them; they BELIEVE it is their ONLY option.

Please PITY these people, instead of punishing them.

We ALL need and want: LOVE, SECURITY, and HOPE in our lives... and suicidal people are lacking all three.

No, I don't think it is a quitters way out. Life is hard for everybody, but some people just are not emotionally equipped to deal with it. People say suicide is a selfish act, but so is asking someone who is suffering to keep suffering so you don't have to.

i guess it's often messy, but at least shows independent thinking. I think there is a definite rational to certain people in some cases deciding to end it for themselves. Who knows how miserable they were prior to the fact? Probably one would be more of a quitter to become religious, or some similar gutless pursuit.

I think it is a selfish action. I can't say that it is the quitters way out...It is a serious psychological condition. When someone gets to the point that they want to commit suicide they are not thinking of anyone else.

I don't know about quitters way out. But I do think suicide is for the weak.

Hmm..
Maybe. In most cases I'd say so. But everyone has their limits and some just end up getting pushed too far past it.
Some times you really feel bad for them, and you know they had it harder then they could take, but some people who do it just make me sick. Cause some of them are quitters.

suicide... its the way out.. maybe not the quitters way but its the way... and it may be the way out.. but it also might be the way in.. in to something better. something that this person doesn't have in there current life. i think that suicide is wrong. why would someone ever take away the preciouses gift god gave them?
