It costs you nothing to call the police to see if they'll help you find it. If it's on, they may be able to find where it is if you left the GPS service on. But in order to do that, you'll need to have your service provider turn it back on.

This is one reason to buy insurance and back up your phone's data as often as possible. I hate to see you go through it, but this may be an expensive lesson in self-protection. I hope you never have to deal with this again ... at least not uninsured and unbacked-up.

Sorry to hear that you lost your phone. The only thing that you can do is backtrack over the places that you have been to see if if turns up.

If someone has made a call with it, it means that they have taken possession of it, and there really is not a lot that you can do.

The non emergency police have no time to be finding lost cell phones. You could try asking, but I am sure that you would be politely turned down and then be thought of a person who made a prank call to the police.

You could try having your service provider track the calls, and where they are being made from.

The best thing you can do is look at this as a life lesson, and a monetarily expensive one at that.

Good luck and have a good day.
